A lot of singers associated with Christmas songs have died at Christmas time.

RIP. He'll be taking his final drive home for Christmas.

Substandard

Saddened to hear that.  I remember he used to be on the Late Late show frequently enough,  had a couple of decent hits around then.  As I recall, he seemed a decent skin.  RIP.

Ah no, that's sad  news.

He did have his health  problems in recent years. He did have some classics , particularly his Christmas hit

As for other  singers dying around Christmas, Dean Martin died on  Christmas Day

Can remember going to see him years ago, in the King's Hall in Belfast. He has some great stuff in his back catalogue. I always thought that he was a bit under appreciated & that he deserved to be more widely recognised & a bigger star than maybe he actually was.

Champion The Wonder Horse

Saw him at the famed Self Aid gig in 1986.

Let's hope he's not on the "Road to Hell"
Never underestimate the power of complaining

His mother was Irish.

I always thought his  surname was  pronounced the same as the actor  Stephen Rea, and that the English  had butchered another Irish  surname , like Moran or McGrath.   But it was Italian.

Edit: Rea seemingly isn't an   irish surname

Puckoon

Always thought Road to Hell had a Knopfler-esque feel to it. RIP Chris Rea.
