Rest in peace John O. Before he made it big, spent countless hours training and bringing us all to matches for as long as I can remember. It's easy forget that men like John O spent much of their lives as the unsung hero dedicating their life trying to make footballers of us all.

Quote from: Truthsayer on July 07, 2024, 11:43:45 AMI was at the 1998 and 2001 All Ireland finals: that Galway team played a great brand of football. Taking Leitrim to win the 1994 Connaught title (first since 1927) was possibly his greatest achievement. May he Rest In Peace.

In 1989 he led Mayo to their first All-Ireland final since 1951. Such a great GAA man who gave a great service to the sport. RIP.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

The man who brought Mayo football into the modern era

The 1983 U21 team he managed to All Ireland Glory formed the backbone of the senior team that made the AIF in 1989.

I was at that game in 83, and I was at the 1994 Connaught Final when he steered Leitrim to a famous victory. That win was no fluke....he defeated Roscommon, Galway and Mayo on the way to the title.

RIP
