Had a lot of time for him. Amazing the amount of times you hear of a death soon after that person retires. 100 years young.

There are two cases of this. One where some retires at fixed age of 65 or whatever. The other is where someone self employed retires at a later age or time of their choice, in this cases retirement often occurs as their health is failing.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B
