See Farage, UKIP leader, had to take refuge in a pub in Edinburgh yesterday, from protesters who let him know that he is regarded as a racist  up there,in no uncertain terms. Certainly wiped the smile of his smug face. ;D

I bet our barmpot politicians in Cardiff today are thankful the Welsh are a lot more tolerant.

The UKIP need to work on the plámás a bit

'The Scots are subsidy junkies whingeing like a trampled bagpipe as they wait for their next fix of English taxpayers' money.' - Chris Monckton, president of UKIP in Scotland, and failed MSP list candidate for Mid Scotland & Fife (2011).

Only two parties count in Scotland, SNP and Labour.

Often thought Sinn Fein could have made an impact in Scotland, in places Like Glasgow East, Coatbridge etc, though involvement on the "mainland" might be difficult for them

It never ceases to amaze me how those most vociferous in their support for the Union are also those who are most contemptuous of the Scots, Welsh, and Irish. If they think the Celtic fringes are that useless, why not be rid of them?

That North Sea oil and gas are a curse.

I remember seeing the ironically-named Tory MP David Evans (he who accused the Birmingham Six of "killing hundreds") stand up in the Commons and denounce Scottish and Welsh separatism on the basis that they would be reduced to defending themselves with haggises and leeks.

And in the past the Irish were handy auld cannon fodder for the Empire

That is considered a good welcome where I come from.

Unfortunately UKIP (or in truth just Nigel Farage) seem to be one of the few willing to speak up in the European Parliament and is quite direct in his approach which gains a lot of traction with disgruntled voters.

As for his racist 'credentials' I really doubt he is. His party seems to be a mix em gather em of genuinely decent nationally thinking políticians and activists along with a few BNP refugees.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Another hypocrit, objecting to EU membership but happy to draw a large salary and expenses from that same membership.Still,if he destroys the Tories at the next election he'll have done something useful

Great to discover that proud Irishman Des Lynam is a UKIP support.

As someone from a unionist background, I've never really understood the attraction of Scotland, Wales and NI for the English.  All three are a drain on their resources and most people resident within each don't even like them!  I guess it is easier to punt brand Britain globally, compared to England on its own.

Can't really say much for the appeal of NI and Wales, but the oil resources in Scotland must be appealing for the English.

Nice one deiseach. I see there that he was on the Vile's books for a while (explains it all really  ;)).

Wasn't the late Frank Carson,Belfast nationalist and Papal Knight not a UKIP member or at the very least a very strong supporter of the party?
