If Tyrone loose next week and Cavan win is that Tyrone gone?

The Bearded One

No they'd finish 3rd and end up facing Derry in a quarter final.

However, if Down beat Cavan and Armagh beat Tyrone, then it's a 3 team tie on 2 points each so it would come down to score difference.
It is what it is. Presumably.

Maybe u20s can go and inspire Seniors against Armagh

16 games of football to turn 9 teams into 6.

The U20 competition needs a total revamp and that is even with Tyrone benefitting from the system in the last 2 seasons.

U20/21 was always straight KO up until starting 2024 seasons (I think I am correct)

Tyrone won it in 2022 and were beat in 2023 in first round by Down but no second chance.

There possibly was an argument for a back door system to allow a second game but to change the system to this one now is laughable. A group stage to get to 1/4 then semi then final !!

Unbelievable to be honest.

Did Tyrone lose in group stage in 2024?

I know they did last year but ended up wining the AI....

It has served us well admittedly but if it was straight KO or 1 back door game then arguably our club leagues could maybe start earlier

The U20 competition is far too prolonged and drawn out in my opinion

Mentioned this before. This is the stuff that clubs need to push back on.

This is why calendars are being squeezed, burn out etc

Goals_Will_Come

Tyrone have went to Ulster GAA before about the calendar issues and Ulster came back with the current group stage nonsense at U17 and U20 level. Ridiculous amount of games to get to the Quarter Final stage - harder to get knocked out than it is to win the damn thing.
The Sigerson system is a much better one and it is the one being adapted at Senior level, so I would say it will come in at U17 and U20 at some stage.

square_ball

Is it not even worse at minors? I remember Tyrone were in a B competition a few years ago after losing a few group games. Put the club minor season totally up the left waiting on it to be completed.

Sigerson system is a very good one - think Derry & Down use it for their club senior championship also

Not as good as last year but they won't be far off it I'm sure. Middle 8 very strong and athletic, still have McCrystal in defence, and I personally think better full forward line than last year. Just might not be the same defensively with the other 2 starters from full back line last year not eligible. Should give it a right rattle though

That result surprised me somewhat... A very talented minor side, you could make a strong argument they are stronger than last years crop... certainly without Joel Kerr

Gerry Donnelly interview on TTM after the game, cut a frustrated figure, detailed exactly where he thought we lost the game : hunger & workrate.
Hopefully they get some fuel from the defeat, and turn it around for championship. I'd still be optimistic about silverware

I was at it and we got back into it with 2 free kick two pointers as the clock ticked into the 70th minute. Dont know who hit them as he was a sub and no panel named online. Fair play to him as I'm pretty certain they were the only 2 pointers all game.

We then had a brain fart pushing for the winner giving away a blatant breach for a tap over winner from Monaghan.

Conditions were atrocious and this significantly effected the quality of football played. Id be pretty confident we'd take that Monaghan team when the fields harden and quicken over the coming weeks.
