The Abbey were the stronger team and I think the first half of the drawn game was an aberration as opposed to the level that could have been between the teams. DOR said it after the game that last week they played the occasion as opposed to playing their game. Once they settled into things last week they pulled away comfortably and were the better team by a distance.

Mad watching DOR and young Keelan striding around the field like their da's at that age. Frightening when you see a generational follow through like that. From an Armagh perspective there's serious footballers on both teams last night who can push through so the future is bright

What's the Armagh/Down split on the team? Roughly.

Agree with posters above, these are young lads in a massive game. Getting stuck into some of them for not performing at that age is a bit much. There can be criticism of the team ok, but to negatively pull apart individual performances a bit much. Dungannon had a great season and produced the best 30 mins of the tournament probably. Just unlucky they came up against a side that over the two games, played very well.

Quote from: WT4E on February 13, 2026, 10:17:58 PMYou Would have to ask questions of the Academy management.... Bar a 20min spell the last day where the players maybe playing off the cuff they looked to have no ideas! Biggest turn around in colleges history! Wouldn't have happened in Pete Herron or MOFs day!

Who is the GAA officer in the school assuming he's an ex inter county star like Abbey? Maybe he can eventually turn around this baron spell
For academy!

Mcgeary had no help inside. Abbey dominating midfield! Mulgrew needed a helping hand around the middle like a Donaghy type in Tyrone minors but was left fighting on his own.

Abbey were impressive. Some classy players too.

Someone told me this is the first time abbey won this fixture through the school years? Is that correct?
Mulgrew one of Dungannon's biggest disappointments on the night - cleaned out in midfield. Lot of big names on that Dungannon team and you can't say any of them showed up except McGeary.

He didn't have his best game but tried hard and was on a lot of posession. My point being that the lads in the middle 8 weren't really at it which meant James didn't have enough freedom.

It's kinda of like expecting Sean cavanagh to deliver a great performance when Hub Hughes wasn't at it - abbey have good midfield so was always goin to be difficult.

Academy management won't sleep a wink this weekend. Who is development office in academy? Is it an ex county player or maybe they don't have any?

Onthe40

Fella from Cookstown.. dont believe he coached at any significant level before coming to the school

Interesting listening to young orourke highly praising Kevin McKernans role as coaching officer

It's quite clear that you seem to have some issue with Ciaran Sharkey.

What does it matter if he was an ex county player or not.

Ciaran Gourley and Collie Holmes are ex co players and have experience coaching at co level - surely the academy are more than covered there?
