No different to that of St Marys Magherafelt who have alot of Antrim men on every year.Abbey a Down school.

I think that is 9/6

Colman's are an Armagh school so.

EDIT: Tried to post the Ulster schools programme off twitter from the last game unsuccessfully

Quote from: DuffleKing on January 19, 2026, 12:01:08 PMUsual debate about whether Abbey CBS are an Armagh or Down school?
I call it a newry school which is mixed
When I was there  even in the 80s my MacRory team was 50/50 Armagh v down .
Actually marked a mate when Armagh were playing down in the minor league .
We kicked living hell out of each other then went to cupids that night .
Great times .

Yes, games of due to the weather, pitches cannot hold the level of rainfall this time of the year.

What's the craic here with a draw for home venue, in a semi final. Bad job that IMO. Do a bit of organising and get somewhere neutral in between.

There was a draw for each game to see who would get home venue.

I presume the issue is that at this time of year (with both clubs and counties training) with the forecast rain they just couldn't get neutral pitches.

Considering the Abbey takes its colours from the Down county colours, it is fair to say it is a Down institution.

St Colman's similarly another Down institution.

Of course, goes without saying that both accommodate for those who come to them from the Armagh side of the Clanrye.

Interesting splash
Abbey play in red black and amber
Down play in red and black
Armaghs original colours up to the junior all Ireland  1926 were black and amber
So I think you will find that the abbey take its colours from the original county colours of both counties

The black and amber in the abbey colours comes from Edmund rice's home county, Kilkenny, I'm told. The red is Down though.

I remember asking a Question on this site about those colours, they're in no way unique to Abbey cbs. Cullyhanna most obvious club in the locality, think an Antrim club and / or school, probably a few others knocking about.
