Was the area now known as Andersonstown in Belfast formerly known as Ballydownfine? I was rather surprised to find Ballydownfine on a 1970 map, I hadn't heard of it.

Still the same as it always was - Transubstantiation versus Consubstantiation...

"Yes you fuckin' do"

Hadn't heard that in years, in fact the only time I ever heard it used was by a former Down hurling manager who got stopped by the British Army on his way back to Belfast ( I was in the car with him) and was asked the usual questions; where are you coming from and where are you going?

He answered with Ballygalget and then Ballydownfine, and the soldier sent us on our way. I had to ask myself where Ballydownfine was and he told me it was the townland name for Andersonstown.

It seems that Andersons Town was actually slightly on the city side of Ballydownfine.
