This weekend's fixtures (provisional edition):

Group 1:

Rathcline v Colmcille, Friday 8pm, Monaduff.

Only a win will do Rathcline and it's likely to be beyond them. Rathcline are quick and Colmcille wasteful but it's unlikely to cause an upset.

Group 3:

Carrickedmond v Longford Slashers, Saturday 7pm, Ballymahon.

Carrickedmond at least do not have far to travel for this one and the journey home for them is unlikely to be a happy one.

Group 4:

Abbeylara v Dromard, Saturday 7pm, Newtownforbes.

Abbey have landed themselves in an awkward spot after last week's shock but they should still have enough for a Dromard team who seem to be flagging.

and subject to successful arbitration:

Group 2:

Killoe v Mostrim, Sunday 6.30pm, Gijón Abbeylara.

Killoe are automatically through if reinstated. Clonguish have to hope for a Killoe win by 6 points or more or a five-point win with Mostrim scoring 8 points or less to go through. Just as well, really, that no senior figure in the Clonguish club might have done anything over the last few weeks to antagonize the Killoe club.

Rathcline 0-11 Colmcille 2-10

Mediation attempts collapse which probably renders the remainder of the championship academic  >:(

Longford Slashers 1-9 Carrickedmond 0-7.

Slashers and FMG join Mullinalaghta, Colmcille and Granard in the quarter finals of a tournament that may well never be completed.

Quarter-final draw:

Granard v X
Abbeylara v Y
Longford Slashers v Fr Manning Gaels
Mullinalaghta v Colmcille

We will have more idea of who X and Y will be (or when we will find out who they are) after the DRA meeting on Tuesday night.

1. Player sent off.
2. Referee's report stated that it was a straight red.
3. Referee "corrected" his report to say it was a second yellow.
4. Killoe objected to said player playing against them because of original report.
5. Long dispute last year over this.
6. Referee sent in letter to county board before under-16 final alleging that he had been prevailed upon by certain parties to change his report.
7. Killoe objected to final being played until matter was cleared up.
8. CCC went ahead and fixed final.
9. Killoe notified county board that they would not field in final until matter was cleared up.
10. Final "played" with only one team showing up.
11. Fine issued by CCC.

For the good of their club, Killoe need a complete clear out of their committee. Maybe lifetime bans for their top table.

Not a particular fan of Killoe's diplomacy but the clearout needs to happen elsewhere. Otherwise any other club (barring Clonguish, Ballymore, Carrickedmond and Seán Connollys) could be the next target for the clique of goons. We were a target back in 2010 when we got in Clonguish's way of a quarter-final although the 48-week ban is a new escalation.
