And to think we all thought he was nicknamed "The Dodger" due to his nifty footwork on the pitch.

Those Lads around Gowran knew better.

It's hard to make the change from elite county player to real life. Carey is an extreme example but there are plenty of gambling addicts, drug addicts and alcoholic.

He would have been getting lots of perks after his playing career. The sob story doesn't add up. His sister was in it too.

Addiction is one thing - a con artist is another. Nonsense to say this is related to making a change from elite player to real life.

The GPA couldn't have said it better themselves, a wonder they're so quiet on it, him being one of their own and all that

imtommygunn

What would you expect them to say?

tiempo

That despite training him well they're sorry he got caught else he'd been part of the golden moments promo

According to the research, pride in the county jersey remains a powerful force.

The act of putting on county colours on match day ranked highly, with over 3 in 10 (32%) citing it as a key ritual.

He was supposed to be out of pocket by a 6 figure sum.

John Power, the farmer also of 80s hurling fame?
Yep, he looked like he'd been dragged backwards through a hedge. Hurled like he was forking silage to cattle.

Grace Murphy

What was he using the money for?

If only the soft as f**k Tipp teams had lads half as tough as John Power they might have won a bit more.

Because Power was from Kilkenny, he was 'hard'. If he was Tipp, he'd be 'dirty'. Don't worry, we all know this.

johnnycool

Of that era the Viking Bonner was 'hard' but Johnny Leahy was 'dirty'.

Takes a bit of everything to get over the line.
