Donegal down to 14 just before half time - will be interesting to see if we can deal with having the extra man as well as Down did against us last week. Sounds like the third similar type of sending off involving Mayo in this league, McCarthy(?) in the abandoned Dublin game, O'Shea last week and again with Rory Kavanagh today, all for throwing the arm back at an opposing player.

1-5 to 0-6 in favour of Mayo at half time, Donegal with a strong wind behind them in the second half.

Donegal 0.09 mayo 1.05  8 min into 2ind half

donegal 0.11 mayo 1.05.  Mayo in big trouble with Donegal playing with strong breeze,

Mayo gone to pieces here. Major question marks over Horan and his team's tactical ability, given the numerical advantage. Relegation battle looming and three desperately tough games coming up. Insanity keeping KK as the free man in defence when we're chasing the game with a one man full forward line.

c.o connor on for mayo .Mayo totally outclassed and have yet to score in the 2ind half.Ger caff just sent off

Sounds like we have played straight into their hands. Kicking balls out to a midfield that was being overrun while we have planty of players free at the back for short kickouts. Leaving players back when we need to chase a game and then either running isolated into three man tackles or pumping long aimless balls into isolated forwards. This just sounds like an awful tactical effort from Horan (its not like we didn't know how Donegal were going to set up) and there will need to be serious changes or we will definitely be relegated.

Abysmal stuff league it might be but lack of guts is unforgiveable

Cork,Kerry,Dublin to play one win should keep Mayo up?
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

donegal lad

the league table looking very tight now after the results today mayo got a very tough run in with the top 3 teams to play and by the sounds of how the 2nd half went have a lot to improve on. Great result for donegal today with us heading to croke park next week

The seven point reversal today is almost like losing an extra point in the table, we had built up a nice points difference buffer with the wins over Armagh and Laois. One win, if we could get it, might not even be enough.

Table is very bunched now with the exception of Kerry who are clear. Everybody else will be looking over their shoulders before they can contemplate a top four place. It is hard to feel positive about the situation this evening. If we need to get something in Kerry on the last day it is unlikely we will be able to get a win to survive in the division, even if they are already assured of a semi final place.

I think head to head is the first tie breaker so that should put us ahead against laois and armagh unless there is a three way tie and then score diff becomes the tie breaker.

Japers, that was a bad result. What do we do now James?  The next three are the hard ones, hard to see anything but 3 losses if we are not able for 14 from donegal. Who's in charge of mayo and making he tactical decisions?  Maybe too many chefs ?
Oh well, at least they have a few months to try and patch things up to repeat last years efforts.

Always knew it was going to be tough going up there and get a result, but the manner of the loss and the performance was desparately disappointing. Bit of deja vu feel to it, like the last year under O'Mahoney. On the pitch a complete lack of confidence, leadership and structure, poor execution of basic skills and inability to take scoring chances. Lack of direction from the sideline with a reluctance to make changes and usually making the wrong one when they did. I don't like being this critical but management and players really have to look at themselves after this one. Two 5+ point losses on the trot now, both matches we had less than a 50% return from scoring chances created. Last week v Down we could've got a result, today we were comprehensively outplayed. I really hope that the rot that was there in 2010 hasn't set back in.

Most of the same players are still there and remember London almost beat Mayo. How many championship players are you missing if any? at least Armagh has the excuse of absent players.

Cillian O'Connor being rested for the U-21 (and he came in for the last ten mins by which point the game was pretty much gone) and the suspended Aiden O'Shea were the only first choice c'ship players missing today. No excuses for today, just a poor performance overall.
