Play Donaghmore in final.

I assume the majority of the boys are Antrim? I know a few go to St Louis from Kilrea but would there be many from other places outside the county?

Yes mostly antrim, but ironically one of the best players was from kilrea

Good to hear Hoof, what position was he 🤓

No.11 but played in mid.

Nice one. Strong boy

Don't be planning on bringing forward your retirement date! Now....if you were getting paid for the sheer amount of shite, gurning & dog's abuse that you have to listen to for an hour every time you're out, that might be a financially sound proposition.

If they did it right then they wouldn't get abuse 🤪🤪😉

I don't think that would particularly matter to the swivel eyed, foaming at the mouth cretins who hang over the fence at games. There is a percentage of people who completely lose the run of themselves at matches & they think that they can say or do absolutely anything, once they have paid their gate money in. The GAA pays lip service to the concept of respect for referees & officials....always has.

How much coin do referrees get ?

When they pay the £3 or £5 in that gate they can say what any want without any kind of comeback.

£30 - £40 per game in recent years.
£40 - £50 per game will be the new norm I suspect.

Fair enough. A nice wee earner for those who want to do it but not a huge incentive to attract the thousands. A fair balance to strike.

Wildweasel74

Wee earner? Seriously who could listen to all the crap from people who didnt know the old rules foreby the new ones!

It's not for everyone, that's for sure. And as I say, the money isn't going to attract a rush into refereeing. There are referees out there who can be touching nearly 10 games a week. £400 going into your pocket in a week can hardly be sniffed at.

Milltown Row2

I'd strongly suggest if someone is doing it for extra money there are others ways to make it.

Putting back into the game
Staying fit
Being still involved in games
Replacing the buzz of championship
Helping the club

These would be the main reasons you'd want to take it up.

Expenses is what I would describe it, fuel, car wear and tear.

It's not for everyone and the drop out rate would be the worrying factor, not all down to sideline abuse mind you..

Another good win. At least we finished the league strongly. Pity Leitrim couldn't do anything with Carlow to help us. Longford Wicklow going to the wire.

Fairly impressed by Antrim yesterday, a marked improvement from the last time I caught a game v Carlow. Pretty sure if Peter Healy had been fit for any of the first 3 games they would of went up.
