Looking at the various leagues divisions for football and fancy Antrim to come out of Division 4. They have 4 of the 7 matches at home this year with tipp , leitrim and Waterford their away games. They were competitive in division 3 matches last year and think they a level above leitrim who came down with them having not picked up any points all year n div 3.

How are they fixed with personnel this year compared to last year. Hoping they get a kick from new mananger Mark Doran this year and will be backing them at 3/1 to win div 4

Spike

Not bothered whether they win it or not.  Promotion is a step forward and the main aim.  A bonus would be new and young player development time.

Should the PRO not be publicising the mckenna squad and tournament?

Quote from: Casement on December 30, 2025, 07:17:39 PMIt's not as simple as that for me. Technically of course he's free to take teams the other 4 nights (the best county teams operate on a 5-7 session basis btw).

But it would be based on two things. The first being the bad message that it sends out to be players and the county in that he might not expect Antrim to be playing into the latter stages of competitions and therefore he can focus on his club team thereafter.  The second thing would show to me that his focus isn't 100% on Antrim, which it clearly wouldn't be.

There is another question to be asked as to why he wants to take more than one team. It speaks mercenary vibes to me.

I want them to do well and I want to watch them but there's something to me not right about a man taking money from multiple places whilst the players knock their balls in for love of the county.

Are you only realising that about him now?

He's been in a heap of counties and moves from club to club. From what I gather, Slaughtneil never developed much under his control over the few years.

I'm surprised Antrim didn't go after Kevin Brady. I think he'd have been a decent option. Although probably has unfinished business with Newbridge.

Anyone I've spoken to is disgusted by him going after a club job whilst manager of Antrim. It smacks of a number of things and I certainly would question his commitment to Antrim at very least.

Antrim need to win Div.4, anything less and he will be told to focus on his club job permanently.

We do not have a County PRO. Most posters here would agree its a hugely important role.

First we cant attract a PRO.

Next question is, what if we lose Saffron Gael too. Another vital cog in Antrim Gaa communications. The envy of many other counties...but sadly I think we take it for granted too....

SG wont be fully appreciated until its no longer available. County should be paying these men handsomly for their sterling work.

PRO & Saffron Gael are very very minor issues in the grand scheme of things & the least of our worries.

They aren't really, a good PRO and good communications can help drive promotion of not just the games but also the teams. Which in turn helps raise the profile of games and young people could actually step forward and want to play for Antrim

Why don't the county go speak to them two lads doing the podcast? SAFFRON voice

It shouldn't be understated how much value there is in the Saffron Gael.

The saffron voice guys are not "official" material  ;D

Surely there will be a PRO in place... there was competition for the job last time was there not??
