Really low scoring game between NUIG and St. Mary's. Can anyone shed any light on the statement below the result with regards St. Mary's point after the whistle?

I saw Lone Shark was at it, and I was following him on Twitter. Apparently there was a 'last kick of the game' '45 which dropped short, and the ref blew the whistle just before the Mary's lad kicked it over the bar.

Have to admit, I don't quite know the ruling on that one - ever since they tested the rugby style end a few years ago I have had some confusion. Sounds to me like Paddy Tally and co won't be best pleased with that one. Hopefully for Lone Shark's sake the game was more entertaining than the score line suggests $:-\$
