Is 'big and physical' the new 'big and useless'?
If you were any use you'd be playing.

For some reason "big and physical" is a great tag for Roscommon teams down the years.

Vast majority of Ros players of recent years are small and light.

Goes back to the 80s and maybe early 90s but you're correct it still gets used even though the Ross side of the last few years (especially the defenders) are small and light. Even the taller ones like Shine, Kilbride and Mannion would be more skillful than physical. Lazy stereotype.

The biggest & most physical Roscommon player i seen the last few years was Daniel Qualter he gave up football to play Rugby & is now lining out for Ireland's under aged team he's over 20 stone now & would knock most GAA players into next week.

He's only a young lad and he's over 20 stone?!
That doesn't sound right or healthy.

Just checked almost 19 stone is the correct weight & is 20 now, not a uncommon weight for 6 footer rugby player.

He's a 2nd row Jinxy and 19 stone is not uncommon, probably will come in around 17/18 stone once his body matures physically but a big lump none the less.

He'd want to be a lot taller than 6 foot.

Yes O'neill, i remember that stuff in harte's diary that year, he reckons he was reading the pen profiles the day before the final. As i said armagh had a strong spine of strong men. I remember i line joe brolly wrote in 2002 before they won it saying that the armagh team all had the build of a rugby league team, apart from stevie and oisin, who didn't need it.
I realise he was hyping alot as usual, but i always found tyone around 03 like a bunch of annoying wasps, just running around trying to hit hard. Conor Gormley was a tank, the rest nowhere near it. Don't confuse this with a slagging match about armagh-tyrone, i was a big admirer of the tyrone teams from the 05 and 08 finals when they refined their style!
