Maybe you could take it that he hasnt ruled out Maginn, Coulter, Murphy and Colgan and they might be fit to take some part in the match. Its going to be very interesting to see the 15 James announces, id hate to see Maginn or Coulter risked, aggravate their hamstrings and be out for a couple of months.

I'd worry about that too.

Team on Down website

McVeigh
Brannigan
Gordon
McCardle
Rooney
McKernan
Duffen
King
Fitzpatrick
Hughes
Clarke
Poland
McCumisky
Coulter
Lavery

Hughes and McArdle included, Mcginn not, remains to be seen if it is the team that actually starts but James has tended to stick by the programme most of the time.

led to believe there will a few changes from that team named.

hughes is def out. still some doubt over benny mcardle. marty clarke is going to midfield in a tactical move in place of fitzpatrick with mooney set to play some role if not from the start def at some stage.

marty going to midfield is v interesting, hopefully he will see lots of the ball and be able to influence the game alot more.

The biggest shock for me is that Dan McCartan isn't playing, apart from the fact that James has stood by him steadfastly he is definitely better than Brannigan who fouls even more than he does. Is Dan injured too?

It has been widely reported that Hughes will not start so it seems curious for him to be named. I wonder if the team sheet will change later today. I'd prefer to see Doyle instead of Duffin but that's maybe just nostalgia talking.

If we were worried about McGinn or Coulter being risked then surely it's crazy to even consider Hughes. He is to have a fitness test the morning of the match. If it is that dubious then surely he should be rested. You would like to think we could beat Clare without him and it would be bad to risk him aggravating his injury and putting him out of later tougher games. At the very least he should start on the bench and only consider brining him on if we really need him.
