Honestly... it's true - Christy Cooney went up the Shankill today to watch some hurling on the Norman Whiteside pitch. We've come a long way folks.. http://tinyurl.com/6jgwvqs

Brilliant.  There was an article in the Sindo about a month ago about one man ploughing this furrow.

Not the Shankill but in Rathcoole Co. Antrim. There used to be a Priest who came to visit his parents and we used to try and play in the streets. Got me interested in the game. And why not everyone play, it's the best.

Great stuff, I must say I'm looking forward to the day that the Shankill Carsons play the Cushendun Robert Emmetts ;D

Brilliant stuff. Well done all involved. Great to see.
Hope those primary schools can maintain their GAA involvement and not just let it be a one off. Time now for GAA clubs to get into those schools, or help start clubs in those areas!

It is happening ck and not just in areas like the Shankill.  Needs to be really pushed on though.

Reminds me of the joke about Linfield beating Cliftonville in the cup final, 2-11 to 0-10

Were the lads on the lower newtownards road not invited to play? Is that what all the fuss is about down there?

They have played, they were part of the Belfast team that linked up with St Pats and Ashfield Boys school from East Belfast.

They even went over to the States and played
