QuoteAnd to be fair there's been some lovely scores in this game

Cork missed a couple of easy ones they might need.

But Monaghan missed the real pressure shot!

Thats harsh. firstly the free should have been brought forward as a cork defender kicked the ball away to waste time. Secondly the defender was 7 years max away from the free taker and the ref did nothing.

speaking of poor officials cork got a goal from a direct fisted attempt (she was probably trying for a point). Half the Monaghan team waved it away. The cork girls knew themselves but the dopey umpire still waved his flag. Do they even know the rules. Luckily common sense prevailed and the ref intervened

This is true. However, a Maurice Fitzgerald, Oisin McConville or Stephen Cluxton would have nailed it anyway.

What are umpires actual instructions in this case?

At the risk of upsetting the fairer sex is it fair to compare with marice Fitz? Besides 40 meters against the wind is hardly a gimmie

I don't think Armaniac is the full shilling :)
I note he didn't mention Dessie Dolan.

I'm only 10d, because of inflation.

I think the freetaker might well have got that free on another day. Them's the breaks.

GAA in for a windfall

MAJOR GAA games will be available to fans around the world from next year, the director-general of the GAA told the Global Irish Economic Forum, writes Colm Kelpie.

Paraic Duffy, pictured left, made the revelation at a panel discussion on the Ireland-US relationship in Dublin Castle.

But he stopped short of outlining how it would work.

However, the plan is sure to delight the tens of thousands of people who have emigrated.

He said the GAA was in the midst of negotiating new contracts for TV media rights and said an announcement would be made soon.

"As from next year on, our major games will be available, we hope, all over the world. That's the target for us," he said.

During the panel discussion, American Ireland Fund chair Loretta Brennan Glucksman also said Irish culture needed to be supported – and also exploited.

"It is the glue that binds us but we must put an economic component upon that valuable component," she said.

"We can't just take it for granted. We need to nurture it and support it in a very grubby, financial way. And I think the days are long gone when artists wouldn't sully their hands with money. Get over yourself.

DIASPORA

"We have to look at it as an economic component."

'Irish Voice' editor Niall O'Dowd said the lesson of the peace process was that American influence made a profound difference.

Mr O'Dowd also said he has long wondered why Ireland did not have a minister for the Diaspora.

But Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who attended the panel discussion as an audience member, declared: "There is nothing that can stop this island from being the very best in the world.

"We are all ministers for the Diaspora. And every worker in this country and every person around the world who has an Irish stamp on their heart also carries a badge of honour on their forehead. I am Irish and I'm proud of it."

Farrandeelin

Sligonian, any chance you could do this again for this year (obviously change TV3 for Sky) seen as the Sky deals are already out? Anybody have the RTÉ schedule yet?

Anybody have the RTÉ schedule yet?

'RTÉ Sport will launch its comprehensive coverage of the 2014 GAA Championships tomorrow (Saturday 10 May, 2014) with a special broadcast of RTÉ Radio 1's Saturday Sport.'

RTE launch their schedule a week before they're due to start live coverage and a week after the championship has actually started. And people wonder why the GAA got Sky involved.

Sky haven't even told us who their studio team or commentator are so they are hardly ahead of the game either

The Sky schedule was released ages ago. They have the excuse of starting from scratch and wanting to make a big splash announcing their studio team, what exactly are RTE going to do? Get Joe Broly to say something nice about Cavan?

I believe joe intends to ejaculate all over Colm o Rourke as he talks about the greatness of the Dubs. You heard it here first
