My lapotop is plagued by a Rogue Anti-Virus called System Defender. Does anyone know how to get rid of it. It fcking now sending pop-ups of false system warnings and virus/trojan/worm risks every 60-90 seconds. Its driving me crazy, as I have to work on-line @ the moment.

I think I was left open to it by another Rogue Anti-Virus on my laptop which I had been ignoring, (it only appeared every 20 minutes) called Personal Internet Security. Its driving me crazy. Would be great if anyone knew how to get rid of this one too.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

had the same thing myself.I called up microsoft and they installed microsoft security essentials and that got rid of the problem.Phone no. is  866 727 2338. you could also go to their website which is htpp://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and you maybe able to download microsoft security essentials from there.Be prepared to spend about an hour on the phone if you call them .

removal instruction in the link also

I like to see the fairways more narrow, then everyone would have to play from the rough, not just me

Do a system restore to a date you know the virus wasn't there and do a virus check straight away after rebooting.

Malwarebytes did the job for one of my friends recently.

Use RKill to kill any current malware programs running:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

Download and install Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Free version is grand.

If unable to run either, reboot the computer in safe mode and try again.
(Turn off computer, when you turn it on again keep tapping the F8 screen until advanced startup options appears. Then select Safe Mode with Networking)

same thing happened me last week, all I did was restarted the laptop in safe mode and did a system restore to a few days previous, very simple

malwarebites or avast are the best ones I`ve found, the free version of avast is brilliant.
