I guess I may go off the drink again, not that I drink much these days anyway.

It's my only vice. When the kids are in bed it is my release valve.  Have a couple of cans most nights.  I know it's bad for me,  I know I'll struggle.  40 days and 40 nights is a long stretch.

Take away the drink and what do you have?

Ok you may be a single lad, they'll not be so pretty now.

Ok you may be a married lad, how else our you going to blare out the yapping wife?

That's what I'm talking about Ardal.  I need strong,  thought out arguments why it would be crazy to admit to my dependence on alcohol and to keep on slugging regardless.

University student: More than the equivalent of 20 pints per week hmmmmmm
Young working professional: now you've money, go for the equivalent of 25 pints
Married young mine: No money again, so about the equivalent of 10 pints
Older married man with kids: no alcohol; but why did God create garden sheds and the like.
Older married man, older kids, mortgage cleared or almost; you're too old to drink, have a pint a week
