Car Rental in the US

Has anyone got any sites or companies that they have found to be really competitive for pricing for a car rental in the USA?

Trying to book one for the folks at the minute and they are around 1200$ for 10 days. Granted - I think they will need 4 wheel drive just incase we get a bad storm while they are here.


Sorry for the new thread -but any help appreciated.

I always use carhire3000 when in the States or wherever for that matter always seem to be pretty reasonable

I mostly use Carhire3000 too Puck but National are good enough and Insurance is free if you have an AMEX?

i paid $400 for 3 weeks. around LA, & NV from enterprise.
that was in 2008. Made good use of online codes from what i remember!
Was for a ford. can't remember the model, but similar to a mondeo.
Bargain.

Finally went with thrifty - 380 sterling for the 10 days, ford explorer, 3 drivers.
