The poppy thing is just something that seems to have grown more legs over the years for whatever reason. If it was like that from the start fair enough but I don't think it has been. (In England / Scotland / Wales I mean)

I lived in England from 2004-2017 and it definitely got progressively worse as time went by. I wore a white poppy one year and got some totally disgusted looks

They are not white poppies per se, rather white and green. You never know but maybe all white poppies could become a thing for the far right racists?

Most of them lads would prefer a red one.

Katie McCabe not wearing a poppy and the local news outlets bringing attention to it will bring criticism her way. If enough Irish sports stars grew some balls and refused to wear it it'd cease to be an issue

Do German players in the PL wear them?

Not sure. But  Argentine Martinez of  Villa was  wearing one yesterday

Matic never wore a poppy  apparently , and there wasn't a word about  it. But, James McClean......

Any of the Japanese players also?

The reason I'm bringing it up is lots of countries that were floored by the Allies or the uk have players that play in the PL with poppies on or off and no issues from media or fans that I know of..

As for James, he should never get abuse..  doesn't help himself either with stupid posts on Twitter

But James McClean has been a poppy mouthpiece for 15 years.

That's the difference.

Nothing else.
