Anyone out there here about this?

Could it become something that would positively change the country?

Thought it was an interesting way forward, then saw the crew who were involved. Trade unions, a few quango members and associated wooly jumper brigade. I will pass thanks.

It looked like a good concept until I looked at some of the local events, 12 people turned up in Cavan, a whole 12  :D

This is soo early 1920s Germany all over again.

Reparations crippling the people. Apparent loss of sovereignty. Signs of agitation from the extreme left but with very limited success. Nothing remotely credible on the right for the middle class.

Anyone care to fill the void?

If we develop Weapons of Mass Destruction, we can get the Yanks to pays us to disarm. You don't even need to have them, you just convince the World we do.   :P

We couldn't even figure out how to extract our own natural gas. The only weapons of mass destruction we have produced are economic ones. And we fired them at ourselves.

We could run Fianna Fail candidates in the U.S. elections.

It reads like a wish list of "things we want from/for society" but little on how this is actually meant to come into being.

'Claiming Our Future' is an event happening on the 30th of October in the RDS in Dublin.  The organisers want 1000 people to attend to send a clear message to the government about the kind of society we want.

Why waste their time sending any message to the government. There is nothing they can do for us nor would they if they could.

Only complete reform will do

Hope those reforming don't have the perspective of the artist for the book. I hope the New Republic remembers Ireland exists beyond the M50.
