Go build whatever is possible for the new budget once that is finalised.

Anything North of the Athletic Grounds would be more than ample.

Plush seating and Catering for blazers and corporates a bonus omly if it can be afforded.

Strange perspective.

I think the working presumption is that these seats pay for themselves and add to the viability of stadia. At the expense, in terms of space, of the ordinary punter but not in any other sense. They are not so much an optional add-on but rather a somewhat regrettable must-have.
Really? They don't pay for themselves when the "blazers" and back-skappers use the corporate area to invite their mates or suppliers to their business as a wee perk, without putting their hand in their pocket. Anyone familiar with the old Casement will remember the big gate being cracked open when mates of the staff rocked up. It needs to be run properly as a business and not a boys club.

Again a strange perspective.

Corporate spaces are put in as money earners for stadia. Surely that must have occurred to you? The attendees may not pay on the day but the corporates prepay for corporate or sponsorship packages.

Running it as a business will necessarily mean having corporate packages to diversify revenue and provide more guaranteed revenue.

How much does policing  orange parades cost? Cleaning up after bonfires?  How much did  NI soccer clubs get in funding?

Materials will never drop, want it done right, need Germans to do it. Who will do it. Some local company with an additional partner in England or Spain/Portugal. One go belly up halfway through it, and job comes in 18months late.

That boy showing how much wit he has while he's at it. I didn't know the terminology was capital vs expenditure but one is a one off payment and one is for life... The fact he doesn't know that means he's either grandstanding or thick. In a normal functioning place it'd be the former but I think in this case it'd be the latter...

He is quite clearly thick and unfortunately not alone in that department at Stormont which really does help explain why NI is in such a mess

For Casement corporate boxes/corporate seating, using Pairc ui Chaoimh as a comparison makes the most sense because it can only hold 3 "events" a year, will have even less sell-out matches and is not in a capital city (so a much smaller number of corporate HQs/far less corporate entertaining/spending)

For my knowlege of the corporate setup in PuC it's a fairly bare bones affair - a long way away from the corporate options available at Croke Park. I've never been to anything corporate in Puc but have sampled a decent bit of the Croke Park options over the years (not a huge amount but have seen a fair few of the diffent levels of options over the years and been to meetings in the stadium on non-match days as well) I really can't imagine any Casment project coming anywhere close to what's on offer in Croke Park in terms of the corporate offering.

I'm nearly certain that the corporate options in Puc are much much cheaper than the Croke Park options and I recall the demand among businesses was much less than hoped for initially and I have a notion that there were deals had to be done on pricing to shift all the space.

My main point is that the options for making money from the corporate sector in any Casement is likely to be fairly limited compared to even Croke Park and literally hundreds of millions away from something like Barcelona expect to make from their new stadium.

The fact that PuC is the best comparison in terms of making money from the corporate sector is a worry given the continued losses there since that reopened.

I mean that lot were always going to object - that's just standard politics which is why I said that the full inflation adjusted amount of £46million might not be approved.

Milltown Row2

Nurses education housing employment infrastructure blah blah blah

All this money was never spent properly when Casement wasn't a thing, there is absolutely no embarrassment from ANY politician when they are beating the them/us sticks/drums

I'd love to be off when a twat arrives at my door to talk about the needs of the locals!!

The DUP where doing the rounds near me, unfortunately I work so never got a chance to chat lol
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Casement will almost certainly morph into a perpetual disaster draining the coffers of the Ulster Council.

It costs money to keep a white elephant painted bright brilliant white you know.

Hallelujah!

Residents living close to the derelict site have been advised in a letter from Ulster GAA that "enabling works for the stadium redevelopment" will begin from next Monday, January 26.

The work is set to last for 12 weeks.

"Initial works will involve site preparations, followed by site clearance and the demolition of existing structures within the stadium's boundary, including the old stand," the letter states.

Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

I would give this a cautious welcome, still no word of financial shortfall being bridged.

And is they work related to the planning permission expiring in July ?
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come
