Very easy to cry bigotry on this. There may have been bigotry but significant incompetence on a few fronts really hasn't helped!

600k wont go far. But Clones needs money spent on it. Not.much change to the ground bar a bit of timber cladding, looking at those pics.

I'm sure Banty could pony up a few €€ for them, I hear he is not short these days.

One much bigger than the other though and not the one people are making most noise about.

Time for the Ulster Council to cut their cloth to suit..

There's no magic money tree coming from Stormont, UK Gov or wherever.
It's pure intransigence at this stage.

When you are that untouchable sure you can do what you want - look dead cat over there bigoted unionists won't give us a few hundred million, gobshites the lot of them.

twohands!!!

Trying to blame bigotry as the main cause for the state of Casement as opposed to rank incompetence is just delusion of the highest order.

From what I can see there has been just the standard normal totally usual background level of bigotry since the start of this project as could have been predicted and expected from day one from that side of the house.

Can't help feel it suits a lot of people involved in the project to spread the notion that the project is mired in stasis on bigotry as opposed to facing up to their own mistakes.

Bigotry hasn't helped but that has only really crept into the agreement in a big way this last few years since the Euros bid. It has been a useful smokescreen. There was a long number of years before that where the Ulster Council made a complete f**k up of this which is the only way to put it. They were out of their depth with a project on this scale from the outset.

You can all have your say and TBH it's just repeating ourselves over and over...the facts still remain the same. The GAA (Ulster Council) F**ked it up and there's no doubt on that and I don't know anyone that would say anything different.
The other fact that remains too is the bitter, twisted, sectarian GAA hating Politicians in the North Of Ireland who will stop at nothing to ensure this stadium is never built with their money, the other truths in the project if this was soccer or rugby (I know they're smaller stadiums) and they had the capacity to fill 35,000 - 40,000 this stadium would already have been constructed and we all know that's a fact too.

To summarise it...the GAA f**ked it up at the start and the Unionists/Loyalists ensured it'll never happen.

In addition to all the points already made concerning  the GAA and Stormont re the awful delay in rebuilding Casement Park, it must also, in fairness, be stated that the local objections were also a very significant factor in setting everything back for years. These objections played into the DUP's and British government's hands, particularly since the whole economy of these islands started to decline again.  Some posters appear to be reluctant to state this salient fact and blame the GAA and Stormont alone for the whole fiasco.

But I think the point there is that SF and the GAA failed to deal professionally with the objections, which I've no reason to believe weren't genuine.  Just another element to the incompetence they've shown throughout.

Yes, the residents' objections which led to a judicial review whereby the unlawful granting of planning permission (by an SDLP minister btw)* was quashed and major health & safety concerns led to the GAA entirely changing their stadium design.

Yeah, it's their fault alright.

*So, you can bang on about Unionist sectarianism all you like but on the other hand we had nationalist ministers hammering through planning applications unlawfully on behalf of the GAA. And it blew a mighty big hole in the project. But themuns....(carry on).

In China they'd just move the residents and any hold outs would have their house inside the stadium.

Wouldn't that be a bit of nuisance for kickouts
