Whatever chance of Dublin pumping money in to get the Euros to Belfast, there is close to zero chance they will fund a white elephant in Belfast so soon after spunking that much money in Cork.

So GAA get what they wanted, say even  a stadium at 150 million, that's still 1/10 of the value they putting into it. It like getting a mortgage on a house, we paid the down payment, get sbody to pay the mortgage, then get to own it.

Not to mention all they spent on baling out the useless soccer clowns!
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Quote from: illdecide on June 05, 2025, 08:50:07 AMI hear the Brits have stomped up the cash, it will be released in such a way that it will not send the bitter, catholic hating, sectarian, racist, twisted brethren into a meltdown.

How are they planning to do that?

I've no idea, just what I think. But if there's a way of hiding things and doing it illegally then the Brits are experts at it.
Like forging safety certs?

Exactly. The FAI bailout was less than what the grants for PuC were. That well is dry.

On a side issue, when they were upgrading the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, why did they place the floodlight pillars at the front of the terrace rather than at the rear. Their positioning would appear to create a lie of restricted viewing areas
Careful now

I think we all know funding will come from the Brits on Wednesday. There was a petition delivered personally to Hilary Benn last week and officials came out to personally receive it. Even the Brits aren't stupid enough to pull off that kind of stunt and then provide nothing.

I don't see them ponying up the full amount require but certainly there will be I would say around £80 million or so offered.

Clones is a great venue for atmosphere but the infrastructure just isn't there for Ulster final day in particular. It would put years on you trying to get out of the field. It took me nearly 5 hours to get home in 2023 back to Derry. A state of the art Casement with excellent infrastructure would be a huge improvement.

Rossfan

A "state of the art " Casement bigger than Clones isn't affordable unless the Brits put up £100m or so.
How likely is that when their fkg up of their public finances has come home to roost?

No harm asking of course ;D

There's a difference between a grant towards a significant capital investment in a (nationally at least) sustainable, well run Association with good, transparent governance, and chucking a load of cash to rescue the governing body of an entire sport that was facing oblivion after years of repeated, wilful mismanagement, incompetence and corruption.

This is because nearly every GAA design and build is done very poorly but for top dollar. Already worried about a future casement. I have already posted previously what £150 million gets you in Germany - a quality stadium for 35000, instead I'm expecting some PUC style dated shit and probably way over budget. The local builders here take the piss.

Why are most of you singling out Casement Pk for funding?. Funding is allocated to projects from Governments both Brits, Irish and Lottery etc all the time and has done for years. The grants can be questioned for all projects and asked is it value for money and is it needed. Did we need Ravenhill, Windsor Park, Dundonald Ice Bow. Did all the schools need upgraded or rebuilt, do Translink need £100m every year for subsidiary, do we need all this?. The truth is we can build cheaper and stop free travel for pensioners and pay for prescriptions, the point is funding is provided all the time and in most cases will not be value for money.
Did Ulster Council and GAA f**K it up?. Absolutely they did, no one is denying this but FFS just get on with it and build the poxy thing, you can go on-line and yap about something else to fill your joyful day or get a life.

On the good, transparent governance, where did the missing funds for PuC end up? Who forged the safety certs for Casement?
