Does it depend on size of crowd?

The ground has a certified safe capacity.

If you exceed it during a friendly, your in violation of the same health and safety requirements as exist if it were an All Ireland final.

So no - H&S requirements do not change.

OK, so why are Antrim allowed  to play NFL games in Corrigan Park, but  not a championship game?

OK, so why are Antrim allowed  to play NFL games in Corrigan Park, but  not a championship game?

Because Leitrim do not take as big a crowd as Armagh.

Yes,  but by that  logic , the All Ireland final should be moved to Wembley  or the Nou Camp , because clearly Croke Park isn't big enough  to cater for the  ticket demands

Armagh18

Stupid question but what did Antrim do for home draws in previous years? Is it only the fact that Armagh have so many season ticket holders?

Quote from: Armamike on February 07, 2025, 06:57:30 PMCan see the two sides to the argument.  Understand Antrim wanting to get any advantage and they're right to remind people that they drew the home venue.  But having said that, it's also reasonable to expect that any county with home advantage should be able to host say 10,000 supporters minimum.  Is there another county in Ulster that couldn't host that number or more?  Corrigan park is not fit to host county championship matches - it just isn't. It's a decent club ground and that's its limit.  It's a sorry state of affairs that Antrim doesn't have a county standard facility fit for the 21st century but that's another discussion.

It is not Antrim's fault they don't have a stadium. They had one of the largest outside of Clones and the Ulster Council made a complete bollox of it. That's where the blame lies. Wouldn't matter what Ulster county they played, Corrigan Park wouldn't be big enough. Everyone knew Antrims situation for years before any draw so it's hardly a surprise.

Some of the stuff from Armagh fans on Facebook about this is laughable. Wouldn't matter if Antrim could accommodate 10k they'd still complain it wasn't big enough. Waiting on a campaign to get the game moved to Croke Park. Not even sure that's big enough given all these supporters that are going to be going. Maybe Jarlath will write a strongly worded email.

Easy to threaten that you won't play in a competition that you've got f all chance of winning.

Anyone  think the Antrim players would be taking this stance if they were realistic contenders for the Anglo Celt.

Probably not but that doesn't make them any less right.

Whoever you want to blame for the Casement shitshow it is certainly not the Antrim players.

Is the major issue not the GAA have contracted with 3500 Armagh season ticket holders to give them the opportunity to purchase a ticket to this game and done a similar thing with whatever number of Antrim season ticket holders there are. The maximum capacity of Corrigan is 3700 I believe which means it's likely the GAA would have to break contracts if the game goes ahead in Corrigan park.

If they now reneg on that there is the potential for a considerable claim costing tens of thousands.

So whilst I support the Corrigan or no where ethos. I imagine it's unlikely to succeed.

No problem, the Antrim county board will fund the shortfall and the legal costs.

Would a temporary stand be plausible at goals at bottom end of the ground, where there is loads of ground
