This pathetic click-bait attempt has obviously worked for me, so maybe I'm as bad!
I haven't always voted SDLP but Claire Hanna is the best politician in the six counties and is living the values that will bring about a UI quicker than any other representative. She is courageous and principled, and if she decides to stand, I believe the chances of a UI in my lifetime will increase dramatically.

LOL!!!

If you think Claire Hanna, the leader or a policial minnow of a party and who's party abstains from the executive but who does not abstain from sitting in a meaningless role in London, wields that sort of influence over the constitutional future of this nation, I've a bridge to Scotland to sell you!!

The constitutional change required to achieve a UI is in the hands of the middle ground, not the extremes of NI society and the likes of Claire has more appeal in that sphere than Michelle O'Neill.

Not a fan either way of Hanna or the SDLP, but that's the reality.

A lot of it comesdown to personalities in a way.

Saw Michelle interviewed a few times and she comes across a a decent person.

Not saying Colum Eastwood isn't but to me anyway, he comes across as a bit arrogant and smarmy.

Maybe not true but that's the way it is to me.

You could say this about a lot of people in the public eye e.g. football managers etc.

Why would anyone even consider him for a Knight hood, his services to the further decline of the Stoops? :o

A good riposte Colum. Just shows you that the English know feck all about feck all.
Cover me in chocolate and feed me to the lesbians

I'd say Michelle appeals to an awful lot of middle ground voters in fairness to her.

Look forward to hearing your long list of meaningful achievements from Stormont.

Compared to Gerry etc, then yes but she can't (and shouldn't) deny her armed republican roots and has every right to give speeches commemorating those murdered in cold blood in Clonoe but it doesn't appeal to that middle ground.

It will take a broad church of nationalism to win a UI of which Claire Hanna and the SDLP still have a part to play in.

Her mantra is a first minister for all and in fairness to her she is doing plenty it seems to me to do that. You'll never please everyone though and she and Sinn Fein in general will always get plenty of stick from the more staunch on both sides.
