ONeill

Newcastle have gone to being debt-ridden to almost self-sufficient. Two seasons in the Premier League will see Newcastle in a very healthy position. Under Hughton, who was coach when they were relegated, that was in doubt.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Robby Savage was class on 5 Live last night when he was asked if Newcastle was a big club :P

"Newcastle aren't a big club, wow they get big attendances, but that is only because the people of Newcastle have nothing else to do."

:D

What in the name of God would Robbie Savage know about a big club? This no talent clown spent most of his time playing for rubbish like Leicester and Derby. Robbie Savage should concentrate on what he's good at fake tans and bleaching his hair despite the fact that he must be 35 by now. Newcastle is a far bigger club than any of the rubbish he ever played for

Who have both won top flight domestic trophies since the last time Newcastle have. Savage can be a bit of a clown at times but I agree with him on this.

Newcastle are a far bigger club then Leicester or Derby in the same way as Sheffield Wedensday, Forest,Leeds etc are far bigger clubs then the likes of Wigan and Blackburn just because some teams have had more success recently does not make them a big club
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Now survival is more in doubt.
19 points after 16 games is healthy enough. If Newcastle survive, I have little doubt that ratio of points to games already achieved, will prove to have mattered most in the scheme of things.

I'm not going to get into an argument about what constitutes a big club but suffice to say Savage is entitled to his opinion. I can't believe I'm defending him but you asked what would he know about a big club - he started his career at Man United. Ok so he never played a first team game with them. I'm guessing you didn't either  ;)

Club Rossa

I don't support any English side but for someone to say Newcastle aren't a big club is wrong.Okay, they haven't won anything of note for years but they have 4 league titles,6 F.A. cups,at a time when it actually meant something and a Fairs cup.A stadium which holds 52,000,average about 46,000 for home games and always sell out their away application.

Newcastle United have appointed Alan Pardew as the club's new manager on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

He might be lucky to get 5 and half months !!!!!!!!!!!  ;)

I'm not arguing the credentials of Newcastle as a big club but how in any way shape or form is Sheffield Wednesday a bigger club than Blackburn Rovers??!!

Mike Ashley has lost the plot big time :o

freddie shepherd was on the radio and he seemed to think it was probably a good move by Ashley but then shepherd is hardly anyone to go by!

Joxer

5 and a half years.  Sweet Jesus!  Talk about putting the boot into the Newcastle fans!

He might not last 5 and a half days never mind 5 and a half month OM if they get stuffed at the weekend

johnneycool

Has Pardew done anything of note in his managerial career to date?

Club Rossa

He has been sacked from his last 3 clubs, which is of note ;)

They probably have a bigger support base, if that counts for anything. Wednesday manage to attract similar attendances despite being in a lower division.

STREET FIGHTER

This is a really baffling decision.

I wonder on what basis was this decision made.

5.5 years contract is ridiculous.

Denn Forever

If they'd replaced him with Martin Jol, you could understand but Pardew?  Maybe he'll confound everybody.

Was Pardew not shafted by West Ham after getting them to the FA cup final?
I have more respect for a man

means what he says...
