Cork remain top of the Allianz National Hurling League Division 1 after they beat Dublin 0-17 to 1-11 at Parnell Park on Sunday.

Pat Horgan scored six points from play to leave Dublin in serious relegation trouble at the foot of the table.

Alan McCrabbe's late goal for Anthony Daly's team left just a point between the teams and set up a grandstand finish but the Rebels had more in the tank and they ran out winners through injury time points from Horgan and Luke O'Farrell.

Galway lie in second place in the table after they inflicted a third defeat of the season on Kilkenny in a high scoring game at Nowlan Park.

Iarla Tannion came off the substitute's bench in the second half and helped himself to two goals to ease Galway to victory by 2-21 to 1-23.

After Galway led by 0-13 to 0-09 at half time, the Cats came back into the game and TJ Reid found the net to help them into a 1-12 to 0-13 lead.

Kilkenny increased that lead to five before Tannion was introduced and his goal allied with a Aonghus Callanan point left one between the teams before an injury to Galway goalkeeper James Skehill caused a lengthy delay.

Tannion struck his second goal late in the game and although replacement goalkeeper Colm Callanan was called upon to make an important injury time save for Galway, the Tribesmen were able to hold on.

Limerick are still searching for their first win of the league campaign after they lost 2-17 to 3-13 to Offaly in a closely fought game.

Ger Healion and Richard McKeogh scored two goals apiece for either team and although

Tipperary and Waterford played out a 1-19 to 2-16 draw against Waterford that did little help either team's league final chances.

Just as he was last week, Eoin Kelly was again the saviour for Waterford as his late free, part of 1-07 personal tally, levelled the scores to ensure the Deise's second consecutive draw.

In Division 2, Clare still lead the way after a one point win over Carlow in Dr. Cullen Park, eventually winning by 1-9 to 0-11.

Dublin had 18 wides yesterday. Cork were there for the taking and we couldn't do it. Typical Dublin.
Big thing for Cork is that Cussens is a long way from the finished article. Brady hurled him off the park.
Horgan is class though and their defence and midfield is excellent as ever. But their forwards is the problem.

Carlow seem to be doing very well this season with wins over Limerick and Wexford and coming to within a point of Clare.
What's the story ?

Carlow have been coming, going, coming, going and coming again over the past few years. They are sort of in a glass ceiling scenario, similar to Westmeath a few years ago. It'll be great for them to play in the Leinster this year. Especially with Laois in the first game. Laois should beat them, but Carlow should not be blown away.

Westmeath had a decent team with most in their prime, this Carlow team is fairly young and still on the upwards spiral.

I've seem both Carlow and Laois in action very recently and my money's on Carlow as they play a very good brand of hurling and I certainly wasn't surprised that they beat Wexford and lost to Clare by a point.

Laois had Down for the taking but allowed Down to hang on into the game and needed their keeper to make two very good saves from big magic to keep the margin to 4/5 points. Down had the fairly stiffish breeze in the second half and should have made better use of it. Laois's No 14 (no programs yesterday) was their main threat, whereas IMO Carlow have a better spread of forwards.

when is that game?

AZ that game is actually on the 22nd of May in Portlaoise.
Don't agree that we have been coming, going, coming, going etc. We did nothing much at senior until we won 1st Christy Ring in 2008. Ok we did have that fluke win in league v Offaly back in 2007 or whenever, but that was just a strange one as the hammering ye gave us in the final after proved.
This is actually the 1st year we are playing at the level required, and have managed to break through that glass ceiling!

For a few years now we have really put a lot into the underage setup and since 05 at that level have had great results, reaching a Leinster minor final in 06 the highlight. Had very good sides in the years around that too...and these guys are now at the age where they are coming through as senior players. They are not afraid of the Offalys and Wexfords etc as we have beaten them at minor. Its starting to pay off now at senior.

We have been level with Westmeath really over the past 2 or 3 years..always about 2 or 3 pts in any game between us, as we both were just below the Liam McCarthy standard.
But we have kicked on this year as hammering them by 19 pts, and have now followed up with a well deserved win v Wexford, and what should have been a win yesterday v Clare shows. We threw that one away yesterday missing 3 clear goal chances, and a lot of easy frees in 2nd half. Look at other forums and Clare people who were there admit that Carlow were the better side and should have won.

We have every chance of beating Laois even if it is in Portlaoise, but only if our forwards improve. Interesting to see the Down guy above say we have better forwards..I wasn't at the Down game, but seems like they scored well that day. But against Wexford last week we hit 15 wides, but got away with it and yesterday another 13, + a shot off the butt of the post.

In saying that it is looking very good for us, as most of the side is 23 or younger, including 3 19 year olds. So this year is already proving a great experience for them, which can only bring us on over the next year or 2.
