Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on January 02, 2026, 10:27:26 PMThese guys stats are up there with Littlers and maybe even better.

Different story doing it against him though

Brilliant entertainment.

Don't go getting carried away now.

Simple facts...First few sets they were averaging higher and better % on the doubles than anything Littler has shown this tournament.

Caveat to that is Littler prob has another gear in him if needed given the ease of his games so far.

Standard dropped last few sets though as expected.

Not saying Van Veen will win tomorrow but he has the potential to match Littler at his best. Littler 7-4 would be my prediction.

Littler won a set earlier in the tournament averaging 125 with 11, 12 and 13 darts. The highest single set average tonight was Anderson with 117 in winning set 5

GVV averaged 103 tonight. Littler 105.

Was are of that but I was looking at the overall average at the point in time I sent that message.

Think Van Veen was around 70% on the doubles at that point too.

Think Van Veen has the highest match average to date in the tournament so far if I'm not mistaken?

So if Littler opens tomorrow with a 180 and GVV with a 100, we can, in all seriousness, talk about how Littler is averaging 80 points more per visit? Or vice versa?

Hyperbole is a dangerous thing.

Too small a sample size... There was about 5 sets played at the point of my original post. The standard was crazy good but as it turned out unsustainable.

Sounds like you're arguing for the sake of it.

Littler clearly the better player but Van Veen has shown that he can match his level at Van Veen best. Showing that against Littler is another question.

But as I said Littler probably has another gear just hasn't had to find it yet given how easy his games are.

It was only an observation looking purely at the numbers in front of me at that time never said Anderson or Van Veen are better than Littler.

Mad Mentor

Van Veen has beaten Humphries and Anderson to get to the final and if he can beat Littler it will be an incredible run. Littler hasn't faced anyone good yet but he will still be overwhelming favourite. The mental side is such a part of the game it is impossible to predict this one. All we can hope for is a great match.

Impossible to predict?

Littler will win a procession by a score of 7-2 or better.

GVV has won 3 of 5 meetings at majors so will rightly fancy the job.

Here we go! I think we can get through this without the personal insults that are appearing on other threads. Discussion indeed 😊
Van Veen has the skills but temperament have to call Littler.. he grinds the best down with his genius

gerrykeegan

Littler had the chance. This could be good.

Van veen needs to get his scoring going. Needs to win this set you feel.

imtommygunn

Don't think van even has got going. Probably wouldn't have got here playing like this. Hopefully he starts before too late but it looks ominous.

Truthsayer

Had hoped against hope but was a bit ominous... Litter different level.

square_ball

Yeah this is over. Littler scoring is too much for him.
