It did look that way. He definitely eased off in that 3rd set.
I suppose was no harm to let Lim win a game, he was never going to lose.
If that's the case, is that a flaw in his game? MVG, Taylor in their prime would never have done that. Humphries always comes across as a decent lad.

Willie O'Connor if can replicate first round form will give MVG all he wants tonight.

Last year he seemed to defer a lot when he lost to Littler like smiling at his great check-outs and nodding in appreciation at him almost he was honoured to be on the same stage (or was that Aspinal?!). Same time I think Humphries is the only one has a chance of beating Littler.. if anyone has a chance!
Aye could be good tonite. MVG not the player he was I don't think.

Yeah that was Aspinall last year but have seen Humphries at the same craic. As you say though I think he's the only one capable of beating Littler but he'll need to be at his absolute best to do so.

Some decent matches today. Gurney-Rydz has the potential to be good. Starting here now.

Wright gone. Didn't turn up at all.. same as Price. A lot of new faces emerging... still hard to see past top 2.. Littler/Humphries.
No harm to see Gurney gone... was exactly blessed with charisma!

Wright was a shambles from start to finish. Changed darts that many times as well. A 79 average is embarrassing at that level.

Is Josh the only Irish player left? Willie needed to be top of his game with MVG on that form but wasn't quite there..

Willie unlucky there to lose the first set and MVG just twisted the knife after that. His finishing was merciless.

Not sure why Willie didn't stop the game with his eye problem. Even for a few minutes just to break play and take the wind out of van Gerwen's sails.

On that form will take a hell of a game from someone to beat MVG.
