Have you any comments to make about the terrible behaviour of your U21 team in the Ulster U21 competition Brokencrossbar. By all accounts it was one of the worst demonstrations of bad discipline scene for a long time with a young Omagh player obtaining a badly broken leg.

I don't Winnie as I wasn't at the game and this is the first I have heard about it.  It is not relevant to this thread either.

Seriously how can argue that the PL player who made the neck high tackle in the first minute is not a sending off is beyond me. A stone wall case. As for the the midfielder who get the second yellow, he made a tackle about 5 minutes before that and I was saying to myself why are you not being more disciplined in your tackle, you are on a yellow. I was not surprised to see him get the second yellow, he never shut his mouth, it was obvious that the entire discipline of the team had gone and it was just a matter of time. I thought the PL number 6 played with great honour throughout the entire game!
PL's manager needs to hold his hands up and take responsibility also, he set a tone at half time that was evident in PL's discipline for the entire second half. Manys a game has been won with 14 players

In typical Laois fashion the Portlaoise manager is whingeing to the papers about the amount of training sessions they did bla bla bla. Perhaps he should incorporate some discipline into their training sessions. Portlaoise decided after 58 seconds yesterday they couldn't win the game because the world was against them. Thats Laois football all over. Make excuses. Should be their mantra.
Hope they get the book thrown at them.

Shamrock Shore

Just saw on RTEplayer the highlights of the game.

WTF is the Portlaoise manager on. Ref was correct in the first sending off.....what would the manager have seen as a red.....yer man's head rolling away from the body?

Fair play to the Clare side, they played good football. Portlaoise should just take their baytin and roll up the sleeves and aim for 2011.

I feel sorry for the Portlaoise lad but that's as stonewall a sending off if ever I've seen one. The fact it happened in the 1st minute is indeed unusual but I think the referee absolutely made the correct decision and had in fact a good game over all.

The 2nd sending off seemed a bit harsh, but that player had committed a number of previous fouls and was walking on thin ice for a while. It's a pity cause it completely ended the game as a contest and he was easily Portlaoise's best player in attack.

Kilmurray Ibricken were easily the better team, and I am really surprised at Portlaoise's complete lack of discipline. Should St Galls make it to the final it would indeed be a novel pairing, or be it Corofin and it'll be a big boost for football in west of Ireland.

Some times in the early stages of matches players are pent up and do things they would not do 5minutes later.  A sensible ref like McEnaney would have booked the player and told him to calm down and warn him that he was on a knife edge.  But then Mr Duffy has never been a sensible ref.  He always has to be the centre of attention - it always has to be about him - he has caused all sorts of trouble at games in the west yet somehow seems to have risen to the top of the pile. Its not the first time he has needed an escort but having said that nothing excuses the behaviour of some of the supporters and  players.  Whens the last time a county had two teams in croke Park on Paddies Day?

It is still a sending off and given the controversey over Kenneally taking Murphy out of it from the throw ion last year I am sure refs feel under pressure to ensure something like that doesn't happen again.  I also think that McEananey would have been close enough to calling ti a red and by the letter of the law the ref was right in his actions.

2006 was the last time there were 2 teams from the same county in CP on Patrick's day, Portumna and Salthill Galacticos won the double for Galway clubs that day.

cheers BCB, but sure nothing decided yet Sat nights game will be tight, this will give a few lads a weeks rest to sort out any injuries.

Dublin under lights!!!
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Fantastic result for the Clare boys yesterday, I am sure they will represent their county and province with pride on Paddy's day in the final.

Just seen the highlights on RTE Player - first sending off was as clear as daylight. He absolutely clotheslined the fella going through. Anyone claiming that refs should be lenient due to the fact that games have only started when this sort of thing happens needs to catch themselves on.

McCormick's second yellow card was fully justified- another neck high challenge. Didn't see the first one so can't comment.

Kilmurry-Ibrickane played some lovely football an the 15 (Downes/Dowds?) would be a handful against any team.

Have lots of sympathy with the Corofin manager being upset at the timing of the re-fixture- as he says lots of people will be bringing kids down to the game so to have to head back to Galway close to ten o'clock at night is very tough.

Light snow up round DCU at the minute. If it continues like this all week a mudbath is a cert! Will certainly hamper our running game.

Always thought St Galls would win this ame and go on and win the final, have a funny feeling Corofin might turn them over. Hope not ad I have a few quid on St Galls since they won Ulster.
