Lads, am looking at holidays over Easter for a week. Would like to do a bit of hiking, although the holiday doesn't have to be only hiking. The missus is insisting on somewhere reasonably warm however.

Only two places I can think of within reasonable distance for a weeks holiday and likely to be warm are Madeira and Marrakech. Has anyone been to either? If so would you recommend them or be able to provide any good links to info?

Or anywhere else anyone can think of?

Cristiano Ronaldo is from Madeira. You could hike to his house.

Was in Madeira a few years back and will definitely go back. Stayed in this place

It was a really good base as its out of the capital in a small developing resort. The one thing i will say is dont go if you want night clubs etc. Its quiet and frequented by mainly aged 50+ couples. You probably know this anyway but in Madeira they have these levada walks which are basically walks along water channels. This takes the sting out of a lot of the inclines. The island itself is very mountainous and its well worth hiring a car to see around it. North coast is very rugged and gets the full force of the Atlantic, the island just rises out of the water.

Gives you an idea.

When i was there the food was exceptional (reasonable as well) and the local Coral beer was spot on.

Loved the place and will go back for sure.
