I wonder if Knockmore are playing Castlebar in the Michael Welsh league at 12.00 on Sunday? (Like will it be moved forward/back etc) If they are I will be tempted to stay on for the FBD final. It would be nice if all fellow gaaboarders saw 'everyone's favourites for the Mayo county championship' playing before the FBD final. ;D

Are Castlebar Mitchel's that highly rated  :D

I always rate them highly every year anyway. :P

Mayo team named with three changes....

Defensive changes for Mayo

19 February 2010

Ahead of the Connacht FBD FL final against Galway, Mayo have made three changes in defence and one in attack.

Kenneth O'Malley replaces David Clarke in goals while Alan Feeney comes into the full back line at the expense of Keith Higgins.

Chris Barrett replaces Kevin McLoughlin in the half back line while in attach, Barry Kelly lines out at centre forward with Alan Freeman moving to the substitutes' bench.

Mayo (FBD FL v Galway) - Kenneth O'Malley, Alan Feeney, Ger Cafferkey, Donal Vaughan, Peadar Gardiner, Trevor Howley, Chris Barrett, Tom Parsons, Ronan McGarrity, Andy Moran, Barry Kelly, Seamus O'Shea, Enda Varley, Aidan O'Shea, Mark Ronaldson.

It will be interesting to see how Alan Feeney does at full back, as well ast barry Kelly as a CHF...
Kevin McLoughlin is a loss, he had a fine game last time against Galway
Is Keith Higgins giving hurling the nod this weekend?

You re expecting Feeney to play fullback from the off then? With Cafferkey in the corner?
McLoughlin must have picked up an injury as it seems he is sticking with his league team.

Is this final on today or tomorrow??

Looks like a sound enough team to me; he hasn't made wholesale changes and must have some idea by now of his plans for the future. Was Feeney at FB a typo or do you think Caff will remain as selected?
I'm a bit curious about S O'Shea's position; I don't imagine he'd be best suited at CF or at midfield. He seems to be a bit ponderous out on the wing. That's not a compliant, just wondering....

Team out. Meehan, Armstrong, Bradshaw, Conroy, etc left out from the Monaghan game. Don't know what the subs are.

Despite performing wuite well for a while in the second half V Tyrone we ended with a very small forward line, perhaps he is trying to add a bit more size to the attack. Surely Dillon will eventually be slotted into the attack too and maybe Conor as another option (not tomorrow of course)

Mayo 0-4 Galway 0-3

Half way through the first half.

Mayo 0-6 Galway 0-4 at Half Time

Ronaldo's playing. Does that mean he's appealed his red card upgrade?

Yup; he has appealed, according to Billy Fitz on Mad West.

Ah, I missed the start, didn't hear that - thanks.

Mayo 0-8 Galway 0-7 half way through the second half.

Doesn't sound like it's quite coming together for Mayo today, Galway with a bit of a point to prove even though both teams are missing a few.

Cosmo Kramer

Mayo 0-11 Galway 0-08 with 2 minutes injury time to go.

Three in a row from Mayo from McGarritty, Barrett and Varley's 4th of the game.

If we can hang onto Aiden O'Shea, him v Hanley could be the definitive Connacht gaelic football battle of the next decade.

Cosmo Kramer

Mayo 0-12 Galway 0-09 at Full Time

Seamus O'Shea with the last Mayo score.

Mayo get the trip to NY in the autumn, there's a fair chance these two will see each other again in the summer with fairly different line-ups.
