I have to admit even in the brassnecked world of N Irish politics it does surprise me that Iris hasn't come out this morning and resigned as MP, MLA and Councillor.  Probably busy packing for the skiing holiday in Chamonix.  One interesting aspect of last night's programme was that she needed £25k of the money back to pay her debts.  These two are coining more than £500k from the public purse and she's skint?!?!?  Wonder what she spent it on??

PS  I haven't read through all the thread but what is Evil Genius' take on this?  Very vocal on the GA thread.

She said she was standing down last week for "health reasons". Try to keep up!

My take was that she 'wanted' the money back because the young boy gave her the boot.  The 'need' part was just something she concocted IMO.

The EG has yet to venture over here.  I doubt he'll present much of a defence when he does though.  What could he possibly base it on.

Aye but until she actually hands in her written notice, she continues to get paid - presumably for doing feck all.

Word on the grapevine is that as a couple they are flat broke. Peadar lost a packet in the recent downturn it seems (on what i dont know). It may explain the debts when they should be very comfortable.

just seen this on slugger;

"Jim Allister made an important point on the Nolan Show this morning that Peter Robinson can 'resign' his wife automatically since in 2007 he insisted all his MLAs sign resignation letters in advance so that if they went off piste he could remotely pull the trigger... Allister was obviously trying to pile the pressure on Robinson, but it does actually put the timing of his wife's departure back in the hands of the First Minister.... For the record, Mrs Robinson is on her way to Chamonix for a winter holiday next week... "

Why would EG defend the Robinsons when I don't believe he is a DUP voter, because he is a prod? Is it that black and white with some people? He referred to them as "twats" today on the Dissident thread. By that rationale you could say why did Jim Allister not defend them as he is also a prod.
"When it's too tough for them, it's just right for us"

My big concern now that it will put many voters of voting for the DUP and send them in the direction of the TUV. If that happens... we're all f**ked, not just Kirk.

So what did seanie have to say about the singing politician, is he the one that rented the odd boy or two or is he the gay guy that rented gay porn?

Hold your horses a minute.

If you actually read the posts you will notice that nobody said that EG did or was going to defend them.

We should lobby for a statue of Kirky to be erected at the front of stormont beside ole carson. The plate can read "In honour of services to old age pensioners"

The issue got quite  a few column inches in The Australian today.

On the Lock Keeper's Inn facebook the following can be found at the bottom:
"...my mum was very impressed when she was in a couple of sundays ago, i think she fell off her bike outside and everyone saw her land in the mud too...   yeah right!  Not as deep as the shite Viris has landed in.

"...(will there be any free waffles going for me and my granny again?!!) x"  Depends how old your granny is I suppose?  If under 60, forget it.

Heard that they're changing their name to either "Robbin' sums" or "Robbin'sonzabitches"

At least this will spell the end for iris in the strangford constituency, hopefully it'll be retaken by the UUP, its always been a source of chagrin for me to have the DUP in the seat rather than the more moderate UUP.

Don't know how moderate the UUP have been in the past when they held sway!!

More moderate than the DUP.

Splitting hairs there Delboy.

So they aren't more moderate than the DUP  ??? or is there a more moderate unionist party out there that i don't know about  ???
