Has anyone ever used this package? Is it easy to use and is it much more expensive than the normal AutoCAD software? What are the benifits of it? Is it worthwhile for anyone anyone in the Building Services industry?

Couldnt tell you about the latest AutoCADs but if price is a consideration I would check out BricsCad and ProgeCad for alternatives that are significantly cheaper (If you look hard enough they could be got for next to nothing, if you know what I mean  :P). BricsCad I know has over 100 application plugins that include electrical engineering and building services addons.

I suppose if you need the most cutting edge features AutoCad is still out in front. But its worth looking into the cheaper alternatives these days.

Sorry I cant tell you anything specific about MEP. If your curious as to a price you could ring CADline for a quote, Im sure you would be expected to shell out several grand anyway  :o.

There are loads of CAD forums out there that you could trawl for better independent info im sure

Never heard of it. I do a lot of CAD but mostly 3D design of machines these days. We use Solidworks and autocad. What does MEP stand for.

AutoCAD Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing, its a building services specific package for CAD. Apparently you draw up your electrical and mechanical drawings as per the norm, but then the cables are sized and the fuses etc in consideration of sockets and lighting are sized. I presume it would do duct sizing etc for the mechanical side of things?
