Mid Down Gael

A very entertaining game today. Kilcoo showed great character after a poor first half. Glenties put up a great show but the Johnstons, Miceal Devlin, James McClean, Darragh Ohanlon and Ciaran McClean where superb in the second half and in extra time.

We'll have to wait and see Omagh, some seem to think they're the dog's ballix.  Hopefully we can give them a game at the weekend.

3.8 to 1.19 (AET)

Fair dues to both teams for serving up a clinker of a game, it was tough hard hitting stuff throughout, Omagh had a slightly cynical edge about them that Harps probably didn't have.  The first half was tight, Harps missed a few chances early on and Omagh were more economical with their chances, at 4 each Omagh hit a purple patch and went in 8-5  up at HT.  The generally much more physically bigger Omagh team looked to be well on their way to winning mid way through the second half when Harps got a penalty to take them back into the game, Omagh looked to have weathered the post-peno storm when harps converted another penalty (the excellent Conor White took both) and this was quickly followed by another Harps goal from Pudsey Rafferty to put harps 2 in front with only minutes left.  Omagh got one back and missed other chances, and eventually equallised with a rather soft looking free (on the balance of the game they deserved as much).  In ET Omagh went 3 clear, Harps fought doggedly and near the end of the second period of ET were only one behind and camped in Omagh's half, when Omagh broke up field and scored a goal to end the game.

It was a very exciting game, Omagh are a huge side and have some very talented footballers especially at 3,6, 9, 11 & 12.  Harps played excellently all over the field and were a credit to the management team and the club.  Just came out the wrong side of the result in a very tight game.  Good luck to Omagh, but if Dungiven can blot out Omagh's 11 & 12 they will win.

fair play to both teams for serving up a class end to end game of football. one of the best games Ive ever seen with fine footballers on display. i thought we deserved to win in the end up, but there is no doubt that the harps are a quality team and have great players in 2,5,8,9,13. hopefully we can move from a hard fought match and go the whole way  :)
