Is it just the hurlers that head off to the sun or do the other codes do likewise?

That's kind of where I was going as was wondering are there different funding models for each code.

And then what that extends to paying for.

Some chat about where money should be prioritised but if players are funding their trips, perhaps a benefactor specifically funding a manager etc then maybe not the same fat to skim elsewhere.

I'm getting another whatsapp message meant to be emanating from the players and this time they are naming names and outlining what they believe happened between Davy and the Antrim Chairman.

Allegedly Davy took a call on Sunday night from the chairman asking him to resign, Davy refused and immediately informed the rest of the backroom team as to what had just occurred.
Allegedly the chairman made the call on advice from the vice chairman who was anticipating that the meeting of the county committee the following night would result in the clubs wanting Davy removed.
Evidently that move didn't happen.

It's getting a bit messy for all involved, and I did say this would end up like this as there's always a carnival around Davy, but if the above is true then the leadership in Antrim needed to grow a set, stand over the original phone call and if Davy didn't resign then tell him he's no longer wanted as the results were no longer acceptable.

Players play, coaches coach, managers manage, county boards administrate and facilitate.

All are at fault.

Yeah that's pretty much what I've heard about it as well.

Shambles all round.

So essentially the Chairman offered Davy the opportunity to resign, ahead of a club vote where it was expected they would demand Davy be sacked? But they didn't.

The statement from the players is poorly written and makes them look like a bunch of prima donnas. Embarrassing all round!

(Allegedly) Attempting to remove the manager with three games to go is idiotic in my opinion. We aren't exactly coming down with supreme coaching talent within our own county to replace the current coaching team, especially at this stage of the season. This isn't the premier league and it just stinks of an amateur approach all round.

As for the players, what work did they do in Portugal? More wasted money by the looks of things. Get them their t shirt and get this season over an done with!

paddyjohn

So we're saying the county chairman is at fault?

This is a rock and a hard place job!

At this point it's just let's get the season done and move on.

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Course, but decisions are made, sometimes they work out and we have different conversations, sometimes they don't and the flack is easy to hand out..

Not one person sets out to do bad, we ain't tripping over obvious big ticket manager's looking to take Antrim, I was 'curious' with the appointment but now that's not worked out.

I personally feel airing our dirty washing in public is not good.

The unfortunate thing is that Fitzgerald is the kind of person that when it goes wrong it goes really wrong. I'm not actually trying to slight him there but he's an all in or nothing kind of person and we're kind of moving to the nothing end.

Yes bad look in public.
