If dissent happens at half time break , the game will restart with a 20m free to the opposition!
Davy may curb his enthusiasm for the refs

Maybe Davy is seeing how things have been for us traveling down South for years and the way we are treated by officials. Maybe not keen to be on the other side of it now, I hope he does highlight it and bring it to the fore.

That being said the dissent rule seems to have worked well in the football so no harm in trying something similar for the hurling.

Exactly this.

Wee Davy made it all about him last year when it wasn't at all, it's just how Northern teams are refereed in general and has been like that for decades.

I see no issue with the 30 metre rule if the referees don't let it go to their heads when arse-hole spectators are roaring at them and they start punishing the players.

It's very hard to decided if the mouthing is coming from the line or the cm of a difference from the line, behind the fence ;)

If I was a manager and some clampit was giving it from behind the line and it costs my team 30 meters, I'd be letting that arsehole know very quickly
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

The dissent thing was a great addition in football last year.

Don't know if referees felt the same but certainly seemed to cut back a lot of the shite from players and in particular coaches.

Another fairly chastening day out, probably as expected.

Clare streets ahead of us, touch, physically, conditioning. Any way you carve it

Clare have a load of recent All-Ireland medals and All-Stars etc. They're a very experienced team. Done a very professional job and probably left about 20 pts behind them.

Big battles between Antrim, Carlow, Down and Kildare now.

Clare v impressive today I thought , and in reality they probably had another gear if needed. Positives for us too, but more significant games ahead over next few weeks starting against Kildare next weekend. They will be relishing that.

Totally different level. Biggest difference is handling. Clare boys taking everything in the hand while we're trying to control it off the stick to the hand.

I'm not a fan of the style either. Its hard to score when you've got our best forwards trying to win ball in the half back line and only one forward within 65 yards of their goal.

Think we could be in trouble tbh. Is it one or two go down? Fixture schedule hasnt been kind with probably the two best teams in the division two of our home matches then away to the teams we need to be beating.

Enjoyed Cushendall as a venue today. They had the car parking down to a tee, in and out very quickly and plenty of volunteers keeping everything going. Be good to see more games played there.

The physicality gap was huge today.  The number of 6ft plus lads in that Clare is incredible and they are probably a small team relative to say Limerick.

I thought Seaan Elliot was lively throughout.  Keelan molloy and Johnson did well when introduced albeit the game was dead at that stage.  Duffin in fairness battled hard and won a lot of frees.

I also think it was more than harsh on McKay getting hauled off after 25mins to bring on McLaughlin (who was poor) when Boyle and Walsh hadn't struck leather at that point.

It was also notable how easy it seemed to be for them to get long puck outs to their men.  Despite having a 1 man full forward line we seemed to be incapable of closing the space on their puck outs.  Meanwhile, we went short on puck outs and the receiving player was under pressure straight away.

Yeah thought it was unfair on McKay but that's Davy for you, pick the young player who isn't established.

Every back was taking on water at that time and as for on out the field.

Anyone seriously think a manager from Antrim couldn't serve up what Davy has given us & save us £100k plus ?

We have the egos of Tony Shivers etc to thank for that though. Box office, eh ?
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Sobering performance yesterday.

Granted I don't think anyone believes that we are at their level, but it was shockingly poor at times.

Players don't seem to know the plan, if there is one and continually second guessed themselves while on the ball.

The one thing that stood out for me was the lack of stickwork. Ball not going to hand, missing that lift. Flicking the ball away one handed, how many times did that happen.
Clare were out strong and looked sharp at times, on the other side there couldve easily been 25 points in that game, they hit some wides

I dont understand how weve very little up top (1 man at times) and then were chasing shadows 1v1 around the shooting area?

The ball to stick to hand stuff was driving me crazy
