We were very comfortable but the concerns would be we weren't ruthless enough and we switched off for periods of the game. Definitely could, and probably should, have won by a lot more.

I would say there are bigger challenges ahead with Offaly, Carlow and Laois. Waterford will be a bonus game which would have been easier had Carlow not beat them. Really this division is better for us than just trying to take a few scalps here or there.

Podge you are right that beating WM is not to be scoffed at. We've been done by them quite a few times so to beat them, and beat them pretty comfortably, is pleasing.

Watched it on the iplayer, great to see BBC sport finally giving hurling deserved recognition. Just one thing I'd like, to hear less ass Kissing of the guest pundit. I'm sure JO'C was cringing a little. I get the dead air bit but give the man his fee and leave it at that. M S is a seasoned pro and well able to generate more interesting conversation.
Delighted with the win, the squad looks motivated.

Have to agree on this, it was cringey at times.

Great option to have for supporters who couldnt get up the road, so it definitely to be welcomed.

I find Sidebottom one of the more entertaining commentators. The rte guys are all extremely dull at least there's a bit of unpredictability about Mark. I think he done a good job yesterday. He has excellent knowledge of Ulster hurling.

Was at the match so never heard M S on stream. I think after yesterday the GAA should consider pre match drugs test for Referees, the guy was on something for sure. Our lads put in a big effort and the better team for sure.

Ref was poor enough at times but in reality we were guilty of pulling and dragging too much in the FB line. I think definitely once and maybe twice twice they might have started it but definitely hand on the back and dragging we would need to cut down on or be smarter on. Westmeath always kept the arm in when in the tackle but sure most teams do that at that level. They should have had more yellows and had a boy or two walking a tightrope towards the end but that didn't happen. Also the linesman flagged the ref who seemed to ignore him or didn't know he'd flagged and then things moved on when a boy should have been booked.

Ref wasn't fantastic but I've seen a lot worse to.

It was pretty poor stuff from the ref now.  Yellow cards weren't hard to get.

My issue it that had he been reffing limerick, cork, tipp, Clare etc and applying the same standards there would be uproar.

Hearing 11 team Div 1 league

Carey up & Ballygalget remain

Can someone explain how a team can just opt not to be relegated? Will this precedence be set for any antrim teams in future who wish to remain?

Also hearing 1 round of fixtures confirmed (10 games)  - similarly can someone explain why we are reducing the number of games for club players?

This county really does leave alot to be answered for at times

Which club has proposed this idea?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Are you sure about that as I was informed that Antrim CB confirmed to our secretary that we are in Div2 this year?

Yeah thats not what is on the agenda for the county meeting.

Loughgiel had proposed a ten team D1 league playing one way.

· 10 team D1 staring 26th April 9 games
· 11 team D2 staring 13th April 10 games

What is in the spreadsheet for the leagues for 2025 atm is this
Div 1 - 10 teams
Mac Uilin
Ui Dhonnabhain Rossa
Ruairi og CLG
Cu Chullain
Seamroga, Loch gCaol
Naomh Eoin
Naomh Eanna
Ballycran
Portaferry
Cathaoir An Ri

Div 2 - 12 teams
Naomh Gall
Roibeard Eimeid
Shane Uf Neill
Ghaeil Chluanaidh
Tir na nog
Oisin, Glaenn Airimh
Naomh Pol
Bredagh GAC
Carryduff
Ballygalget
Ruairi og CLG 2nds
Seamroga, Loch gCaol 2nds

Find this pretty baffling, the problem atm in most counties is the training to game ratio is already too high, by only playing 10 league games itll be worse. the current system with the split works fine.

If i stand corrected - fair enough!

Very much was plenty of talk regards 11 team div 1 or simply no relegation/promotion (carey/ballygalget)

Have we confirmation on number of games?

Surely everyone would be in agreement more games the better? Previously split also allowed county players to play some league before championshop

Na Glinntí Glasa

Thats what will be confirmed after the next county meeting.

If we go with a 10 team Div 1 then its nine games played home and away then the league splits into 5/5 with four more games played by each club.

Div 2 will be 11 teams with ten games then split into 6/5 etc etc.

Fancy us to get another 2 points in Tullamore at weekend. This league is turning out to be competitive with some interesting results to date. A win in Tullamore would give us a great chance of fighting for a top 2 spot and a league final. I'd imagine a decent crowd at this game plus it's on tg4 also I believe. Is cunning out for the whole year? Def need others to step up a bit up front. McNaughton has been brilliant so far. 1 24 in 2 games.
