I guess if you're going to go up and stay up this is the best chance. Say Carey win the league and Glenarm beat Ballycran, both will probably target the other for a win and hope to scrap something elsewhere then win the playoff. Massive ask though.

GAAhead2013

Any idea when the playoffs are due to happen? Haven't seen dates yet.
Have to ask, and it's a genuine question, are we not mad to expect players with families and other commitments year round, to be available around the 12th fortnight for games? There are 2-3 games taking place for clubs during this period in the hurling leagues. Add to this any club fortunate/unfortunate enough to be in a playoff situation.
Players asked not to take time off over cship Aug/Sept and usually July fortnight is the big one for hols.
Add to this county players who are asked not to take hols during the county season, and urged by their clubs to not miss championship prep & games. At what stage do we begin to look at the players as people, instead of numbers to be "ticked off" in a fixture list.

For as long as I've been involved with GAA in Antrim, games have been played from Easter through to end of October if you are lucky enough.

Players have taken holidays every year, it's an amateur sport, you tell your manager the dates you are away and that's normally been that, if a player is playing for a club that's usually in the business end of things they normally take their holidays before championship, or after.

But since social media has been about, it's a problem  ;D
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

great to see so many teams entered into this years u21 championship. hope we get some good games?

wouldnt be familiar with this age group but i'd say loughiele must be favouraites havin won a rake of minor championships in recent years.
what's the lay of the land? and whats the pick of the games:

glenariffe/glenravel v ballycastle
loughgiele v  galls
c'dall v st pauls
rossa v endas

I know there's a few teams possibly having to pull out so interesting to see what happens. I watched a great game last year in it between Loughgiel and Cushendall. Loughgiel won which sent Cushendall into the B competition which they romped. I think the semis ended up being close to the minor final which ruled out a pile of Loughgiel and Dunloy ones so both lost in the semis last year.

think i may have spoken to soon. there's two results are already listed as 0-00 v 0-00. looks like a few of the teams have pulled out @SaffronSports. (https://antrim.gaa.ie/fixtures/u21-a-hc)
probably a handful of kids just in the age group who are going to miss out. too old for minor and and too young for senior.

With holidays and stuff it's not a good time to be trying to get games played, but with U20's/U21's there never is a good time TBH.

Yep this is the window players were given to take holidays if they wanted to
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Ballycran retain Division 1 status after a superb game at Dunsilly against Glenarm. Glenarm gave it one hell of a rattle and had opportunities to win it but were just edged out.

NorthAntrim

Galant effort fair play. Wasnt sure how accurate their league position was. With a few teams probably not wanting to go up and a few teams like Cushendun regressing. But theyve shown how much they actually have improved and hopefully they push on in the intermediate championship

Davey Fitz is the man.

His podcast was good but I was disappointed they didn't ask him about ulster hurling and / or the possibility of managing in ulster.
