I do think Antrim should give consideration to regional teams in our senior championship.

Was tried before.

Would probably work in Belfast but logistics / geography in North Antrim didnt suit.

I think North Antrim would do well in the hurling. There's lads travelling to other clubs to play minor hurling and a ton of amalgamations these days. Genuinely think it would help clubs and county but like a lot of things in Antrim parochial rivalries probably holding the greater good back.

The amalgamations is all they have at that level though.

I used to think the same as you until they tried it and it tanked. However if a lot of thought was put into it maybe it could work - our senior championship has minimal teams and would be good to see something improve it.

sure is dunloy not already a regional team - they have boys from ballymena and everything playing for them? maybe even one or two others :)

Not the only team at that end of senior though  :o

Milltown Row2

Would require junior and intermediate to be finished before senior by at least 2/3 weeks to allow some sort of training and selection process done, I think it's done that way in Kerry, though not sure..

would also mean a long wait for provincial games being played for junior and intermediate winners, plus if you lost one of your best players to an injury while they were with the regional team!!

In theory I think it's good, how we adopted it at the time didn't make headway.

Nearly sure I was club manager at the time and we had Stewarty and the two mcgourtys playing. It didn't annoy me too much remembering back

Early in the season for a bit of fishing 😅

Congratulations to CPC on winning the Mageean Cup tonight. Poor enough game I thought but they done enough to get over the line. I wonder is there a pitch that could stand up better than that one at this time of year to play the final there. Pitch is always in bad nick in the Mageean final and doesn't help the quality of hurling.

2 antrim schools going at it and and the best antrim gaa could post was a great come back from cpc to win it. 6 up at half time won by 6 was a great come back 🙃

Seen enough of oisin mccallin regularly to think he's a serious prospect. Only going into his 2nd year of minor.

Saffrongael

CPC were slightly better I thought, and this was the year they were expected to win it, same as St Killians last year.

They were just a bit sharper but it definitely was getting interesting when St Killians reduced the deficit to 2 points, before CPC got the goal that gave them a bit of breathing space. Both wing half backs for CPC were very good

On the Dub, it's a good venue for young fellas to play with the stand etc but the pitch just isnt big enough for hurling
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

I don't think it's big enough for seniors but grand for minors

Aside from the size of it, I think the surface is brutal. Like playing hurling in a car park

Oisin is a serious talent coming through the club at the moment. As you say, hes still got another year left at minor which says a lot about the lad being selected as player of the match last night.

Padie O'Kane is coming up fast behind him in the school showcasing his talents.

3 starters for Imokilly as far as I can see.

Watergrasshill looked very good but they aren't exactly a juggernaut. I read somewhere a while back they didn't win a group stage game for three seasons before this season.

What's O'Kane like at the hurling? I would say there's a chance he might go pro in the soccer if he's starring in underage NI teams.

Is McCallin Dunloy? I think the fella Martin looks decent too. I'd expect a few of them to make an impact on senior in next few years.(some of them did a bit this year I think)
