Agree with NAG1, it's not fair on the players, I know some people described it as "windy", it was 50mph winds. Players were struggling to run against it. Have a bit of respect for those that put the product on the field.

Ok, so you propose what?

Postponement, it's really simple

To when? June?

Yeah June

From the management and players I was talking to on the line at Ballycastle, they never once said it should be postponed

I'm not sure postponement would've guaranteed better weather another day out as is being pointed out here. There's no guarantee especially as we move further into the year you'd have a better day weather wise.
However I do wonder why Ballycastle was the venue initially when finals 21-23 were all played in Corrigan, all county games have been played there since Covid (from memory) and all football finals played there.
I'm not saying it would've been guaranteed better weather but it's less exposed to the elements compared to Ballycastle and it has covered area which is useful as we head towards winter.

Did the other counties that postponed games at the weekend postpone them until June ?

SaffronSports

Don't see the problem with playing it at Ballycastle. When the venue was set, it was either going to have St John's in the final or a North Antrim clash. Remember all the mouthing about two North Antrim teams being taken to Corrigan in the last two years? Maybe they thought right the people want this game in North Antrim and they done that so now the Karen's are gurning about something else.

Nope, are they going to get better weather? its to rain all weekend up in Ballycastle according to the weather forecast, do we stop it for the rain, heavy pitch? I've played in Ballycastle for too many years to remember and its always been windy and not the ideal place to play, even on a good day.

Proposal?

Is Loughgiel fit to hold a county final?

knew the forecast 7 days in advance.  knew it was a decent day (for the time of year) on the Saturday.  Get the match brought forward 24 hours.

Intermediate - 1pm in Loughgiel
Senior - 3:30pm in Ballycastle

Jobs a good'un.

Would imagine all clubs involved would see the logic behind it.
Also, it might be wind and rain in Ballycastle this weekend, it wont be the wind we had to contend with on Sunday past.  There's wind and then there's that.

dont think it could hold the crowd there was in Ballycastle on Sunday.  Also, no warm up pitch at Healy Park.

There never seemed to be any worry about going up to Casement for years for two North Antrim teams.

My point was that I didn't know why it was moved after what seemed like continuity in county games/senior finals the past few years.

However I will point out that Ballycastle is one pitch which is impacted by the elements more than possibly any other in the county.

Not sure there was a gripe about going to Corrigan.  In fact, I know for certain that both Dunloy and Cushendall were offered Corrigan or Ballycastle for the 2022 final.

Both went for Corrigan

Would the pitch over the road not be fit for that?

thats not ideal.  a little further than just over the road.  Intermediate final on Saturday, both teams warmed up on the main pitch.  I'd imagine whoever organises would want to avoid that, especially with the time of year etc

Some rubbish spouted on here and that's coming from me!

The game is over so no point in debating the venue now.

In an ideal world the game would have been played in decent conditions and as a result we would have witnessed a much better spectacle.

Teams train for almost a full year for this. They deserve better. A proactive County Board would have rescheduled the fixture...common sense.

The sliotar getting buried in the ground near the clubrooms summed the day up perfectly.

Nothing we can do now unfortunately.

Deserve better? Again what should the CB do here? move it to this weekend (rain and wind) or postpone it again to say mid Nov? or the Canaries are nice this time of year, can be windy though

As for the ball being plugged, it would be plugged when the grounds soft and you stand on it with 15 stone behind ya! The ground won't be any softer this weekend or the next

read my comment above on what the county board could have done... there was options.  not that radical either.

wind and rain at this time of year is a given.  but the conditions did little to showcase the biggest club hurling game in the county calendar
