Quote from: Saffron71 on August 29, 2024, 08:07:31 PMWhat are the tiebreakers in the Hurling championship with regards to more than two teams levels on points? Could possibly be needed in both intermediate groups.  Is it the team with the best point difference overall or the best point difference between the teams involved?
Two teams tied =Head to head rule
Three teams =  score difference;
Then total points for scored
Then Play off

St Olcan's are an amalgamation of Tir Na Nog and Creggan.  Think they only field at U16 as both clubs seem to field on their own at the younger grades. At minor I think Tir Na Nog have maybe 2 or 3 Creggan lads hurling but not enough for an amalgamation.

Croke park changed the rules slightly on the three teams on equal points as it's now score difference only in the games involving the three teams against each other.

Did Antrim follow suit?

For club ? Because I think Munster & Leinster IC were operating differently for this years championship, one was score difference between teams affected and one was score difference overall (I think)
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

yes, for club.

Down use the "head to head" score difference version in the event of three way ties.

Is Stephen Beatty free to play on Saturday for Rossa? Suspensions are just in one code, aren't they?

Suspensions are 1 code yes depending on how serious the offense was. Not too sure how they grade them though

In Derry get suspended playing a Senior match but you're free to play reserves, make it make sense

I would imagine Antrim is much the same. I recall somebody telling me you're suspended from that competition so if you get a 1 game suspension from Senior football league then you are free to play Reserve league or Senior championships for example if that match comes before your suspension can be up.

My understanding would be that you can't play reserve if you are graded.
I would imagine any inter county player would be on that grading list.

Most suspensions unless you batter the head of a referee are relating to the same code and same level. Cat I to Cat IV are these with only Cat V debarring you from all codes.

Our championships need an overhaul for next year. IHC a stand out. Groups of 5 and 6 teams. Groups starting on the 27th of July and running to the 21st of September!

What's the alternative? Half the clubs involved are dual so there needs to be an allowance for that. I think it's better this way than last year when they ended up squeezing in a Wednesday - Saturday game week while everything else was 2 week gaps across football and hurling?
