In the post fact era the old idiom if you're auntie had balls she'd be your uncle no longer rings true - for a multitude of reasons

Demonstrably a fact that Rangers died, the new variant carries the same moniker and it means enough to people that they have to pretend its the same, thats OK, a really simple case of you do you

Quote from: screenexile on January 02, 2025, 11:48:03 PMCeltic fans keep talking about "Sevco" and "No old firm" but what they're not grasping is that to anyone outside of Celtic supporters, Rangers are still Rangers.

Type Old Firm into google and you'll see multiple stories and links showing there was a game between them today!!

Celtic were clean shite today you'd hope it's a big wake up call.

Yeah, shoe other foot it would be the same thing. Rangers lied cheated and were punished properly for it, but they are still 'rangers' to everyone else.

They weren't punished. That's a complete myth. The club ceased to exist. They set up as a new club with many new players as the old contracts ceased to exist. They were given preferential treatment to allow them to join the league and bypass the normal steps.

Commercially driven, doesn't make it right but at the end of the day the idea of Rangers old or new puts bums on seats, sells jerseys, burgers and beer - the powers that be weren't going to cut their nose off to spite their face, the idea of Rangers is so deeply embedded within a significant portion of Scottish society there had to be some clemency, why risk social fabric and incite trouble with a band of knuckle-draggers over a bit of fitbaw

It doesn't bother me in the slightest that they were given that advantage to jump other clubs to join the league as a brand new club. What annoys me is their fans and supporters in the media claiming they were somehow punished. It was the opposite of punishment, they were given serious advantages because the authorities were keen to get them back in the top flight asap.

Aberdeen and Dundee United back in the 1980`s when they were challenging the Glasgow big 2 were know as the "New Firm"!

WATP etc. is the inverse mentality monster, it self perpetuates shit for brains, let them at it

I have to laugh at Souness, he fucked 2 clubs, Rangers long term and Liverpool medium term, yet goes around spouting greatness, he talks a great game and was a great player but he really set the ball rolling for the gross overspend at Rangers, him and Super Ally lined their pockets then claim to give a shite, they wouldn't be in as much of a hurry for a truth commission i'd say

A lot of people have gotten seriously rich off Rangers and the gravy train must continue, they'll most likely crash again trying to stick the pace

Jesus, Mccoist wasn't manager a long time like Walter. He wouldn't have made millions from the club as a manager, as a player no doubt he was paid what a top player in that league should get.

The first Season of Sevcos existance , 2012/13 they played in the old Third Divison in Scotland which at the time was the Fourth Tier of Scotish Football . McCoist was Manager and his Salary that Season was over £800,000 , yes you read that right £800,000 to manage a Team in Scotlands Fourth Tier ! They were trying to resurect the Club and McCoist and others squeezed what they could out of it . This is part of the reason why the Zombie Club is now another financial mess ! !

Milltown Row2

The manager I'm sure was on a contract, that's on the chairman, not mccoist..

You could start a separate thread if you want to discuss Rangers lads.

All the contracts were null and void as the club went out of existence. They had to begin again with brand new employees. Most of their decent players left. Mccoist must've been able to negotiate a similar contract to what he had previously with the original club.

Yeah, so the chairman at the time was happy to do that! He didn't have to take McCoist then, so saying McCoist was on the gravy train and squeezed the money out of Rangers is clearly down to the chairman and board at the time and those posts seem strange to me
