Ok i know im getti ng ready for a bollicking but in Walsh and Stafford Wicklow have one of the best  midfield parnerships in Irelands and were the salwars in their sucess. If Walsh leaves there is no chance that Wicklow can build for greater things, (I'm thinking a 2011 Leinster final appearence with the right draw)
The other midfielders in the county are pure sh1ite and wouldn't start for Carlow. Hopeflly he'll play in Carlow but for Wicklow because he's one of 15 heroes here!
Do you think Usain Bolt could replace Thomas Walsh?

Not sure if you're joking or not EP- but would you really want 'outsiders' on your county's (or club's) team.  Obviously if someone moves to an area a distance away from their own county/club for work or marriage that's completely different but don't think there's any joy in winning with mercenaries.

With Wicklow we'll take what we get. Sure we'll give them a flat if it helps

Thomas Walsh to resume Carlow career

Walsh is now in line to face his former colleagues in the championship opener in May
Thursday, 8 April 2010 07:41
In a boost for Carlow football, manager Luke Dempsey has persuaded Thomas Walsh to resume playing with his native county.

Walsh attended his first training session on Tuesday after a vote among the players last week cleared the way for his return.

Walsh has spent the last three years playing with Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow after a controversial inter-county transfer in 2007.

Carlow narrowly failed to persuade Walsh back early in 2009, but late last year he transferred back to Fenagh, his home club in Carlow from Bray Emmetts and that dictated that he could no longer play with Wicklow.

Walsh didn't accept an initial offer rom Carlow to return, preferring instead to play rugby with Tullow over the winter months, but Dempsey stepped up his efforts to coax him back in recent weeks.

Carlow will open their Leinster championship campaign against Wicklow on 16 May

Yes he is back, came back there on Tuesday & it all went grand according to the players. He was just chatting away with the ones he knows from 3 years ago...but in general he was welcomed back and training just went on as normal.

I see my old posts on this thread hating him...and I stand by that, no matter what Wicklow offered him it was bad form to turn his back on his county and go play for another bad team.

Ok he is back now, and the most important factor for me was Luke Dempsey put it to the playersl last week if they wanted him back or not. Vote was 17-11 (no idea where 16-14 as some are reporting came from). But once the vote was taken, the most vital thing happen where all 11 who voted against him promised that they would accept it and stick with the panel.

Hence we have a 30 man panel going into championship all united and with probably the best midfield duo in Leinster with Murphy & Walshe.
