Cluxton would have to be considered for the goalkeeping slot. There haven't been that many standout goalkeepers so far this year and Cluxton hasn't put a foot wrong. Kerry might have got five or six goals against another keeper on Monday.
It won't happen but Mervyn Travers has been the best keeper in Ireland this year
Being the best in your position all year isn't what the All Stars is about. It's about having a good AISF and AIF. Chances enhanced if your team win even if you have an off day. Call me cynical.

QuoteGooch will get one for Monday alone

he'd played better but he was far too wasteful on Monday for the amount of ball he got  for me to consider it a good perfomance.

cadhlancian

wasn't there already an allstars thread started?

David Kelly should get a nomination for his performances at least, immense on Mark o se.

From the Irish Times:

Kingdom and Rebels dominate

All-Ireland finalists Kerry and Cork boast 22 of the 45 GAA Football All-Star nominations for 2009 and all three of the candidates for Footballer of the Year, though 12 counties are represented in total on the shortlist revealed this evening.

After claiming Sam on Sunday, the Kingdom's Paul Galvin and Tomás O'Sé will once again go head-to-head with Cork captain Graham Canty for the individual award.

Tadhg Kennelly is another Kerryman on the All-Star list, wrapping up a remarkably successful return to domestic football after a lengthy spell in the AFL with the Sydney Swans. He'll know if he will emulate his father Tim – a two-time winner at centre back in 1979 and 1980 - on Friday October 16th.

A decade on from winning his first All-Star, Rebel defender Anthony Lynch is nominated again but his team-mate Colm O'Neill has been omitted, though he is shortlisted for the Young Player award alongside Donegal's Michael Murphy and Mayo's Aidan O'Shea.

Murphy's scoring exploits were exceeded only by fellow full forward Colm Cooper, while his scoring average of six points per game was bettered only by Dublin's Bernard Brogan.

Brogan is joined on the list by his brother Alan, Dublin goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton and half-back Barry Cahill.

Tyrone have five nominations in total but there is no place for 2008 Footballer of the Year Seán Cavanagh.

At first glance, I'd say Alan O'Connor is very lucky to be in ahead of Crawford.

thought that this year's league finalists might have got at least a token nomination for either O'Kane or Eoin Bradley - far superior this year to many of those listed above, but it is the allstars after all.

Aye, the Tyrone and Donegal Championship games being cases in point  ;)

NFL winners: maybe, losing finalists (only): not a chance.

jaysus, i'm only looking a nomination, not a bloody award - i wouldn't say we were much less successful than Wicklow who managed two nominations (on the back of Micko's forwarding of them on the sunday game last weekend).  And the Tyrone game would be a case in point, showcasing the defensive qualities of O'Kane (obviously his attacking capabilities are well known), one of the reasons Cavanagh didn't get nominated!!!

slow corner back

How did Davy Harte manage a nomination? Scores a point in every game but gives away about three due to poor/ non existent defending? Cleaned out against both Kildare and Cork and none to impressive in the ulster final either.

Fair enough, though as you know yourself a short run of Championship losses won't often garner a nomination.

Cavanagh had an excuse against Cork -- not only a stomach bug, but his ankle ligaments were fecked for which he had to have an injection before playing, and because of which he's since gone under the surgeon's knife (and Jordan, Colm Cavanagh & Mellon are going under the surgeon's scrutiny shortly too).

Have to say Davey Harte has contributed well to tyrone wins this year.

Murphy for YPY and O' Sé for PTY

Hard to see last years champs secure any. Cluxton is a cert ;) It might go to Bernard Brogan?
Good to see Hub nominated. He's had his critics and he answered them the best way possible.
Two great come backs included there too. Great to see Kennelly nominated, youg Clarke mightn't be far away.
Great come back for S O'Neill too.

How'd I guess Cluxton would be on there. In fact I wouldn't be shocked if he was given the All-Star, but I might be disgusted.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016
