Need a bit of help

It's been a while lads but I have a few quieries if anyone would like to give their worth.

I have been working recently on a new project and have a few questions about setting up among other things, a new website.

How do I find out the legality of a business name to be used for a web address?
Is there a site I can check all patened business names and usage, and the length of contract?

I would imagine the company that sells you your domain name won't let you buy anyone else name.

You couls be incredibly luck and buy e.g. cocacola.ie and then have Coke buy it back from you!

Or Coke could just take you to court and get you to hand over their intellectual property.
