The Bureau
I made the mistake of watching the Fassbender version of Le Bureau and the storyline appears practically identical.

Quote from: J70 on April 07, 2025, 05:18:03 PMI enjoyed the White Lotus season 3, even if it hasn't been a patch on that first season and Murray Bartlett. But then again I'm not the most demanding, discerning, sophisticated viewer!

I'll not spoil the ending in case Ireland is behind the US. There's some shooting, but you already knew that if you've been watching!

Too slow and dragged in too many episodes. Two or three episodes in the middle really picked up the pace and then it slowed right back down.

Sam Rockwell in his limited scenes absolutely stole the whole show.

Quote from: Tony Baloney on April 07, 2025, 05:32:56 PMLads are there any series you'd consider marquee that I could have missed. I'm thinking top end stuff like The Killing(Forbrydelsen), Breaking Bad, Sopranos etc.
Have you watched The wire?

Yes. Of the big hitters I've watched The Wire, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad (2 season of Saul), Band of Brothers, some of Fargo. These are all old stuff now - has there not been anything similar in the last 5-10 yrs? True Detective had potential after s1 but didn't live up to the hype.

I thought The Last of us was good, season 2 coming out soon.

Just finished season 2 of 1923. Last episode is nearly 2hrs long. Am a bit meh about it. Watchable. Looks to be the end of the line for 1923. Am sure Taylor Sheridan will milk the shit out of Yellowstone for a while yet with plenty of other decades to mix not least 1944 up next with Matthew McConaughey.

If you don't mind subtitles give Gomorrah a go. Italian gangland show set in Naples
Private Cowboy: Don't shit me, man!
Private Joker: I wouldn't shit you. You're my favorite turd!

Irish version of Traitors going to be staged in Slane Castle.

Good choice.

Look-Up!

Hell on Wheels, Underbelly, The Spy(only 1 season) are some off the top of my head but not sure where you'll get some of them. Might need a dodgy box. Thought The Expanse was very good overall but slows down in places. Andor is excellent and I'm not into Star Wars. Season 2 out soon.

Underbelly S1 is terrific.

Milltown Row2

The Spy with Sacha is brilliant and so fecking tense...

Now this aint a popular one, and if you can forget about the topic, prejudice, the place and everything else about it and view it differently (if any of that makes sense) But Fauda was a smashing show
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Is Celtics City being shown in Ireland?

HBO produced it and are showing it on their Max app in the US. Really good, in-depth look at the Boston Celtics, with the first two episodes focusing primarily on the impact of Red Auerbach and, especially, Bill Russell from the 50s through the early 70s, second two the early Larry Bird years. Next one is set up to look at the Len Bias tragedy. Series doesn't ignore all the racial shite associated with the city of Boston either.

Similar kind of thing to The Last Dance. I think I read some of the same people were involved in producing it.

Anyone know why BBC have only aired 3 episodes of their Kinahan doc on iPlayer.

It says the 4th and final epsiode will be shown "at a later date" - why did they bother releasing the first 3 in that case?

Seasons 2 and 3 are a lot better.  Some of the acting in that first season is a bit ropey.
